RNC chairwoman expresses regret over Giuliani news conference

The chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), Ronna Romney McDaniel, says in a new interview that she regrets letting former President Trump's lawyers, namely Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, spread unproven claims about the 2020 election from the organization's headquarters.

Speaking with The New York Times, McDaniel indicated that she thought it had been a mistake to allow Giuliani and Powell to make the claims about election rigging days after the vote at the RNC's headquarters in Washington, D.C.

"When I saw some of the things Sidney was saying, without proof, I certainly was concerned it was happening in my building," McDaniel told the newspaper. "There are a whole host of issues we had to deal with - what is the liability of the RNC, if these allegations are made and unfounded?"

During the Nov. 19 press conference at the RNC headquarters, lawyers for the former president including Powell and Giuliani claimed that Democrats had organized around the country to steal hundreds of thousands of votes in key battleground states including Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia.

is even more reason why Mitt won't leave the GOP.

He has a more open field than other GOP pols because he is at least sane.

If tRump is convicted and barred from future office, all the better for Romney (and frankly from my perspective the GOP as a whole).

Expect Mitt to be GOP candidate in 2024.

If I'm him, I'm telling them they have to leave.

I have big props for Mitt showing some real integrity against serious blowback, but he don't give a shit about fundamental Democratic ideals.

He fired his team on Saturday because they wouldn't go into Congress and lie that he won the election. They want to argue its not possible to convict the POTUS if he's not POTUS. His new team, on Sunday, is taking the exact same track. How long until he fires them as well?

Then at the first available opportunity in a forum that approximates the forum the lie was spread in, you disavow the statements and tell the truth. Then you do that three more times at least.
