(9,478 posts)Maybe even better because he knows his leverage against Trump and his Republican co-conspirators is only good so long as there is a Democracy that threatens the Republicans.

(16,616 posts)"I did incite an insurrection, but here's my justification...." (And even McConnell and Barr have said the justification is a lie.)

(13,582 posts)pending suit contesting the election now is there? They were all shot down in flames as far as I know.
I'd love to see Trump testify and have them be really tough on him. The only acceptable rules should be Trump keeps his mouth shut, pays attention, and answers the questions. Any blubbering about a stolen election should be shut down immediately. Threaten him with contempt of Congress or whatever and nail him for it if he gives them the chance. You're not in the White House anymore asshole!

(1,789 posts)if the testimony had to be accompanied by evidence. All of the lost court cases were not even close, 1. Where's your evidence? 2. We don't have any 3. Case dismissed. None of these pierced the national consciousness, they just got little headlines every few days. Imagine this brief "we have no evidence" drama playing out on national TV. Maybe it will sink into a few thick skulls that they really don't have anything except "a lot of people are saying".

(45,806 posts)fast! In case you don't know, when you lose the support of Georgians, you're done! This has long been a very Repug. State & I was quite surprised the read that it is turning against DT. The more he pushes his accusations of voting irregularities here, when we all know it's a lie, the deeper he digging the hole. Soon the rest of the Pugs will realize they don't need him to get re-elected, & they'll bandon him too. Poor little Trumpie will fade into oblivion all alone.
I'll be sooo glad not to see or hear him anymore!

(15,937 posts)I represented all sorts of reputed mobster figures: alleged head of Russian mafia in this country, Israeli mafia and two Italian bosses, as well a guy the government claimed was the biggest mafioso in the world, Schoen said.
I hope the Fed's are prepared for any violence perpetrated on any buildings, or vehicles, or people!

(17,536 posts)Will that not leave him open to further prosecution regardless of what the Senate does? It seems like an admission of guilt of planning a coup to overthrow the government to me.
I would be fine with him getting a Senate pass if he gets 20 years in a sedition trial. It would also seem to incriminate a lot of other folks if he says, "Yes, I did it, but It was justified." He could finally fulfill his promise to drain the swamp, and Make America Great Again.

(32,762 posts)To incite insurrection Since the election was stolen from him. The 2 newest attorneys have said the defense will be that it is unconstitutional to impeach him since he is no longer president. The ridiculous stolen election theory, no attorney is going to go with that....presenting known false evidence would land them in serious professional trouble
