This thing with slow mail is getting worse!

SS sent out paperwork for my telephone hearing weeks ago, according to the stamp. And it just got delivered to me today! And my lawyer hasn't got there copy. The hearing is on the 9th!

This is unacceptable! What can possibly be the holdup now? The holidays are over!

the sorting machine. I would guess that they haven't reinstated any of the overtime etc.

Until we get rid of DeJoy, it won't improve.

Priority Mail packages to my daughters in Denver and NYC used to take 3 days, now it's more like a week to 10 days.

I had to pay a $50 late fee a few months ago for an automatic bill payment sent by my bank via USPS that was returned to the bank. After 10 years of reliable service mailing the same payment. I switched to hand delivering a check myself.

Talked to the local post office supervisor about it who said there was no way to bill USPS for the late fee.

to another place in Ohio and it took forever. Ironically I mailed it from there thinking it would take less time so I traded the ability to mail it on a Sat in NC for a Mon in Ohio and it wound up taking over 2 weeks as opposed to the three days it was supposed to.

Now, a couple times per week, one of us will ask "when was the last time you went to the mailbox?" With bills set on auto-draft and others coming overemail, old-fashioned mail isn't important to my family. UPS and FedEx are more prominent and important to us since we buy so much online.

If you put a gun to my head, I couldn't tell you what a 1st class stamp costs today.

I don't like the idea of doing it by mail, even before DeJoy fucked everything up.

Sometimes the script is wrong ,so I prefer to just coordinate with the pharmacy to get stuff done. Call in my meds with a real human being, than take a short walk to pick them up.

One time I lost my gluconometer, freaked out looking for it until about 8, than called my endocrinologist
who called the pharmacy and had a new one by dinner time. Can't do that via mail.

The reason why is the tracking number they give you - it allows you to track the delivery and they know they have to be on time. Yes it costs more, so I use it sparingly. Regular 1st class mail has no tracking number, and it can sit for a long time before they get around to sorting and delivering it to the destination.

For bill paying, my best advice is to pay all bills online through your local bank's online checking account. Most banks offer that service now, and many have it for no additional charge. My electronic checks (paying my bills) are never late because I can tell my bank when the payment needs to be received. Check your balance a few times a month and keep track of your outgoing charges. This is the best way to pay bills ON TIME and not have to worry whether the check was received.

Most of us understand how deposits can be made to our checking account (e.g. social security, disability, bi-monthly paycheck, etc.) so we need to also understand that bill-paying works the same way. Banks in Europe, especially France and Germany, have been doing this for over 20 years.

... when people apply for them and give the banking info through their IRS tax payments, and through social security. Anyone who doesn't supply the info will never receive a government payment by electronic transfer. Those checks get printed out and mailed the old-fashion way.

I blame DeJoy and the Republicans. They gutted and hamstrung one of the greatest government agencies we have ever had. They did not hire seasonal workers for the holiday rush, they dismantled needed machines, and when COVID decimated their ranks they had no temporary employees available to fill in. The mismanagement comes straight from the top.

You, of course, can find world class pockets, and if you are well-off financially you can but first class services for may things, but overall I do not think the majority of Americans realise how shoddy the country's underpinnings are when viewed at wide, systemic overall levels.

But hey, the US has the largest, most powerful, most wasteful, most destructive military industrial complex in human history! Keeping that petro-dollar matrix empire under the whip-hand of Uncle Sam ain't easy (or cheap).

These idiots are just envious that they don't have what postal workers have. Well, whose fault is that?

I struggled, during the time I spent in the workforce, to get unionization in the nonprofit organizations I worked for. They were all great nonprofits, fought for justice, civil rights, women's rights, etc. but a significant number of them disdained unions. I was viewed with mistrust because I was sympathetic to the calls for unionization among our ranks.

And it looked like it had fallen off the back of the truck and was run over. I am not thrilled with this and I already contacted the seller about it, even though I know it's not their fault.
