"SNIP......
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) announced Monday that he wants to spend $50 million on a marketing campaign to convince East Coast and West Coast residents to live, work and spend their money in Ohio, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Said DeWine: We want to position Ohio as the place to be. Ohio is a welcoming place. I dont care who you are, we want you to come to Ohio. Its a progressive state.
Well, not exactly. Ohios GOP-controlled Legislature hasnt passed many progressive policies in years.

It makes folks hard to be scratching for a living all the time. And good for DeWine...he is the only Republican I can recall that even tried. Ohio should be getting green jobs and wind will be back with Biden. It has a great deal to offer...we have a wonderful theater district in Cleveland , Museums, Botanical Gardens, enough restaurants to feed an army, lots of green space...and the schools my kids graduated from were very good.

(38,393 posts)From about 11th grade on, I wanted to leave.
Dewine will have a hard sell to reverse the brain drain/emigration trend; Ohio went for Trump twice.

(15,909 posts)The only thing I'd find appealing, besides being closer to family, is how cheaply I could retire there compared to where I live now.
But I can save money in much warmer places too, and perhaps Georgia is turning blue faster than Ohio will get there.

I wish more coastal people moved here, though. It would surely be an improvement over the ones from former coal-mining towns that I've seen the last few decades.

(8,170 posts)Let's help DeWine promote this campaign. My daughter lives in Oakland, and she's sort of looking for a more economical purposes.
And then we can have a normal political dynamic with a population of sane potentially liberal humans.
