Re: Covid Bill. What other ways does the govt. have to tell how rich you are?

The Repugs have one thing right, but it isn't the real reason they want to reduce the bill by 2/3rds. There are lots of people who don't need $1400. It's wasted on them. The amount is based on your 2019 income. The cutoff is $87,000 (down from $99,000 last spring). It's higher for married couples. I'm retired with no earned income, but have significant investments and savings mostly in my IRA and house.

What other method could they use besides your AGI for 2019? The IRS doesn't know how much I'm worth. Could they find how much I spend or sales tax I pay? Could they find how much my investments have increased?

Oh, I believe that the real reason they want to gut the bill is just to deal President Biden a defeat and assert what little power they still have.

Many people's income have changed drastically in a short period of time.

Right the GOP does not care about means testing at all, they really don't care about the American people.
They just want to sabotage Joe in any way possible.
