Damning.

(12,182 posts)If you were randomly part of the crowd there, or part of a small group from Elk Groin WY, how would you possibly know exactly what "Bring the line forward" means?
Obviously that it's in English with correct syntax means we all know the literal definition, but what specifically is the order being given in this context? "Am I part of this line?" "Should I be joining the line, and if so, where are they?" "Forward to where?"
Unless they've been drilled specifically for this, even trained soldiers would not necessarily know exactly what to do.

(15,167 posts)And I think a lot of us were long ago convinced there was "awareness" -- hopefully not only within the WH, but also by our security agencies. What a smoking gun looks like to us, are operational plans to storm the Capital (and kill or capture?) -- with cooperation and collusion traced to official sources.

(12,182 posts)Even if the evidence of what is happening, or about to happen, randomly lands in their laps, they should be doing SOMETHING to forestall the catastrophe. Even failing to do something effective in saving life and property would mitigate any guilt, as long as a good-faith effort was made.
My 2 cents.

(15,167 posts)but my point is -- that standard has already been fully met?
Upping the ante -- to a place where the general public would agree that this man is certainly guilty of, and should be convicted of, actively promoting sedition and illegal actions (i.e. a riot at the Capital) -- probably means going to the next level proof? After all, Trump has been criminally reckless and dangerous with his speech -- since well before he took office.

(8,724 posts)doesn't have to be explicit 'direction'...doesn't have to be a direct connection to the specific actions taken by the insurrectionists...we don't need to hear a phone call between Trump or spawn and the viking helmet guy...
...what we already know represents MASSIVE irresponsibility, GIGANTIC dereliction of duty, probable illegality, HUGE embarrassment on the world stage, ENORMOUS erosion of US as a beacon of democracy, EXTREME violation of oath of office...a culmination of the worst 4 years of presidential history. All of which are supremely impeachable in a health senate.
I hope the impeachment managers make it clear this is not a criminal trial and that undermining of democracy over several months represents a COMPLETE FAILURE of presidential duty warranting conviction. There don't need to be debates of fine points here...this is crystal clear.
