"They've chosen a totally partisan path," Kentucky Sen. and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told The Times about Senate Democrats.
McConnell used reconciliation to pass both tax cuts during his time as Majority Leader. He also employed the measure in a failed attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

(26,579 posts)will happily send theirs to the RNC as donations, so so Mitch should be happy. They should start running ads right now.
I'm sure that all the R voters will comply.

(18,837 posts)I mean, PATRIOTIC Republicans should NOT accept those checks, because their party doesn't want them to have them. They should either forward them to their nearest Republican elected official, or perhaps even to Trump himself at Mar-a-Lago.

(18,837 posts)If Dems capture a Republican-proof margin in the House and Senate, the following two years will be nothing more than the Republican wailing and gnashing of teeth. As long as we hold the razor-thin margin we have in the Senate, they will game the system, relentlessly, in every way they can. We need a few more Stacey Abrams on the ground when the midterms are near. What she accomplished in Georgia needs to happen in every state where Republicans are on the ballot.

(26,290 posts)the Democrats then use it to raise it?
After all the Republicans will never support us in doing it even though it should be done so why not use the same tool they did?

(6,522 posts)$1,400. The new Minority Leader and all his buddies are upset at the change in power. It's still Party Over Country for them.
What's it to them? We have watched as the numbers changed back and forth, up and down, as time passes. I am not an economist, but I have a feeling that the true number needed was Pelosi's 3 trillion dollar mark. The Dems have compromised enough. Enough is enough.
Pass the stimulus without the Republicans, who would rather not give a stinking dime to poor people in trouble. If Joe was really working it, he'd have the Dem's pass the bill with far, far more money than he was willing to compromise with.
So, it's considered partisan? TOO BAD. We don't like you, anyway.

(21,563 posts)Many GOP in the House voted for it and drumpf also supported it. It would have passed the previous senate if McConnell didnt bloke a vote on it.
$1400 is absolutely bipartisan.

The velocity of money figure is abysmally low right now.
Taxation of the rich would help lift it as well.

(8,922 posts)that no Senate Republicans voted for the $1400. I guess the voters in Georgia who wanted the money were on to what Republican senators would do.
