I really wondered what D U. would look like after the torch was passed.
It is better than I dared hope
Our mememaster has kept the ship on course, navigated us through rethug shark infested waters, and dodged the icebergs of indifference.
If you do not show up in dress whites on this thread and give a salute, you will be seeing saltwater for months, cleaning D.U.'s heads and swabbing down poopdecks and stuff.

I don't want to risk the classic Air Force punishments - Running a floor buffer and no room service while deployed. 
And banned from catered meal service for a week!

But I have to point out a fact known only to those who have frequented the Classic Film forum for many years.
Robert Montgomery is the Patron Saint of the Classic Film forum. EarlG has to share, but only in that one forum. 
They make us think, they make us glad.

Seriously though, great job guys with DU.
That is the worst NOC I have ever seen. 
I was amazed when I first "found" DU, and more than a little intimidated by the discourse. As I got used to the level of it, and gained some more knowledge of the vast subject, I came to appreciated it a lot more.
It was, and still is, the best site of its type I have ever seen, and by a LOT. It has never faltered, even once.

I'm still relatively new here. This past late Spring I
needed more political convo than I was getting from
my long time political sub-forum on a long time music site.
I remembered the DU name from 19 years ago(!) when I saw you back then on line - but didn't have steady WiFi access as I do now to keep up. So I figured
I'd see if you were still around - not quite expecting that you'd be here; but there you were/are!
I think I arrived a little while before Earl G took over so I don't really have a comparison.
I'm enjoying this site a lot for the political info, conversation, the other interest groups, and fun in the lounge. I look forward to this year, and beyond to reading, learning, commenting, and conversing in this cool place.
