Biden just fired all 10 of Trumps appointees on the Federal Service Impasses Panel. Trump had stacked the panel with anti-labor activists who rewrote union contracts to undermine collective bargaining and strip protections from workers. Now all his holdovers are gone.

(11,949 posts)Here is Florida we are paying the price for swamps being drained over the past 120 years. We have a big on many people have heard of...the Everglades. Used to be twice as big.

(44,055 posts)Fortunately we had a strong conservation community and a very good governor named Russell Peterson who was a Republican at the time but eventually switched parties. Now there is a nature center named after him. I love our swampy wildlife refuges. Oh and they put up habitat especially for the ospreys now.

Back in 58 Burl Ives stared in a film with Christopher Plummer and where Peter Falk had his first role in called
Wind Across the Everglades. The film highlighted the over harvesting of bird plumes and the governments battle to counter the poachers.

(3,356 posts)Somebody in the Biden camp has their eye on a deep cleaning of government. Surgical precision at work. Couple that with exec orders that reverse Trump orders and the last four years are being wiped away. The only stain left are the courts which we cant do much about.

(52,560 posts)but every day he's surpassing my most optimistic expectations.
"Biden was going to bloodlessly work the gears of government to eviscerate everything trump did."
He's doing it all very calmly and quietly, even with a reassuring smile on his face. I think most people seriously underestimated what kind of president Joe would be. Experience and character really do count.

(58,785 posts)in the middle of many crises, it was imperative to hit the ground running and act in big ways.
And WE knew that with 50 years in government, 8 of them in the White house!, and several months of intensive planning with various teams for the day, he knew how to do what had been decided on.
Including knowing high-quality people to appoint to rebuild from the rubble of four years of chaos and destruction.

(23,826 posts)I think it shouldn't surprise, but it does because it wasn't talked about enough. Joe knows how this all works, he's got a ton of experience and spent 8 years in an Obama administration, he had everything ready to go on day 1. There has been no hesitation.

(12,443 posts)how and when to use them has always been Biden's strength as a candidate, nominee and now acting POTUS. It's what experience brings to the challenge.
So, no I'm not surprised by these actions nor Biden's desire to GO BIG in his policy thinking. He knows the extent of the Covid and economic crises. He lived through the shenanigans of the Republicans when President Obama was in office, and he understands how legislation can be thwarted or pushed into being.
It's early in the game but so far? Joe Biden is definitely living up to my expectations. He was made for this moment. And thank God he was willing to put an easy retirement on hold and throw himself back into the arena. For the country's sake.
In this case, he's thoroughly cleaning house. Dust Bunnies Beware!
