'Remand her to custody': Internet outraged after judge approves Capitol rioter's vacation to Mexico

A federal judge is facing backlash on Twitter after granting the approval of a Capitol rioter's vacation to Mexico despite the criminal charges she is facing.

Jenny Cudd previously requested to leave the United States to vacation in Mexico. Given her participation in the deadly insurrection on the U.S. Capitol, no one expected her request to be granted—until it was. As part of the conditions of Cudd's release, she is not allowed to travel to Washington, D.C., but apparently, she has been allowed to leave the country, according to USA Today.

For many, Cudd's preferential treatment is a glaring example of the problems in America. Twitter users have sounded off with their concerns about the handling of Cudd's case. Bernice King, daughter of iconic civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., tweeted her assessment of the situation.

This is how normalizing insurrection and sedition is treated....Congress needs to impeach this judge.....this seditionsist has no remorse for her actions.....

Mexico is open to travelers. There is no need to provide a negative PCR test or quarantine on arrival, though most resorts ask guests to complete health questionnaires. The land border between Mexico and the United States is closed for nonessential travel through at least February 21. However, air travel is allowed.

American travelers should remember they will need a negative Covid-19 test result taken 72 hours or less before travel to return to the US. The US Embassy says results for PCR and antigen tests are reliably available within 72 hours in Mexico.

https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/mexico-travel-covid-19/index.html

(Article is from Jan 29th, 2021)

Mexico lets travelers cross the land borders into Mexico from the US, generally with no hassle. American citizens can freely cross from Mexico into the US by land border, but probably need a negative COVID test to do so.

Felony domestic violence.
I was jury foreman. I ran the discussion for 20 minutes. Unanimously not guilty on the 1st vote.
The prosecutors proved nothing other that something might have happened. Or not.
Basically, the court got caught in the middle of a family feud.

When filing motions, attorneys add prewritten text for the judge to sign when granting the order. The federal magistrate's office said permission has not been granted and wouldn't say when a ruling might come. Attorneys for Cudd did not respond to USA TODAY's request for comment on the request.

Under the conditions of her release, Cudd is not allowed to travel to Washington unless it is for a court appearance or a meeting with her attorneys or pretrial services officer. She's not allowed to travel outside Texas, and international travel must be approved by a judge.

Good. Let her sit home in Texas and be grateful she isn't sitting in a jail cell.
