(15,325 posts)NY22 Update : After certification of votes in 7 of 8 counties, Anthony Brindisi nets one vote
Brindisi gained a total of one vote on Claudia Tenney's lead, which was last reported on Friday as 122, so he now trails by 121 votes, but again this new total is without Oneida County, whose certification is on hold.
I think Brindisi is ahead 122 - 121
(Correct me if I'm wrong understanding this one)
WAIT. No Brindisi trails Tenney but Oneida is still out.
Problem now is, Tenney has already been seated in the House.
If Brindisi (D) wins, how do they UN-seat Tenney(R)?

(15,801 posts)I know unconventional but once in a while common sense needs to prevail. They can run again next year with the constituents having time to observe both and decide again. This is so rare that Id be cool with this. Both would work hard knowing they had to run soon again. I know pipe dream.

(14,750 posts)I think the only exception is due to census changes, and even then, you can't have 2 reps in one district.
Don't they use a coin toss sometimes? Or how about a new election?

(37,748 posts)How does your expressed 'theory' deny the GOP from exploiting it at their own whim (being as 'unconventional' as they are)?
Pipe dream or not?

(15,286 posts)That didn't leave enough time to count all the votes, iirc. I believe this is the issue for the Dem candidate.

(15,325 posts)The IA-02 election was one of the closest races in 2020the final margin only separated the candidates by six votes.
In an initial Notice of Contest, Hart identified 22 lawful ballots that were wrongfully thrown out. When counted, those votes will put Hart ahead by nine votes and make her the lawful winner of the congressional seat.
