Past comments from and endorsed by Marjorie Taylor Greene on school shootings, political violence, and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories do not represent the values or beliefs of the House Republican Conference. I condemn those comments unequivocally. I condemned them in the past. I continue to condemn them today. This House condemned QAnon last Congress and continues to do so today.
I made this clear to Marjorie when we met. I also made clear that as a member of Congress we have a responsibility to hold ourselves to a higher standard than how she presented herself as a private citizen. Her past comments now have much greater meaning. Marjorie recognized this in our conversation. I hold her to her word, as well as her actions going forward.
I understand that Marjories comments have caused deep wounds to many and as a result, I offered Majority Leader Hoyer a path to lower the temperature and address these concerns. Instead of coming together to do that, the Democrats are choosing to raise the temperature by taking the unprecedented step to further their partisan power grab regarding the committee assignments of the other party.
While Democrats pursue a resolution on Congresswoman Greene, they continue to do nothing about Democrats serving on the Foreign Affairs Committee who have spread anti-Semitic tropes, Democrats on the House Intelligence and Homeland Security Committee compromised by Chinese spies, or the Chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee who advocated for violence against public servants.
In the end, this resolution continues to distract Congress, especially given the limited time that Speaker Pelosi and the Democrat leadership want the House to debate and work, on what it needs to focus on: getting Americans back to work, getting kids back to school, and providing vaccines to all Americans who need it.

(82,849 posts)Oh really, Kevin? Explain to us all, then, how your statements in the very next paragraph lower the temperature? In case you didn't read your own bullshit (and who could blame you if you didn't), it says, "[Democrats] continue to do nothing about Democrats serving on the Foreign Affairs Committee who have spread anti-Semitic tropes, Democrats on the House Intelligence and Homeland Security Committee compromised by Chinese spies, or the Chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee who advocated for violence against public servants."
I suggest a mild lubricant before you shove that self-serving hypocritical nonsense directly up your bottom.

(20,680 posts)Speaker Pelosi already said she's not pursuing this:
Still, Swalwell maintains hes being punished for speaking out by unnamed people in the Trump administration.
If intelligence officials are trying to weaponize someones cooperation, Swalwell told Politico, they are essentially seeking to do what this person was not able to do, which is to try and discredit someone.
It rings a little bit like Trump and his allies attacks on a nameless deep state in the government whenever theyre accused of wrongdoing.
How this is becoming a potential political issue: Well, Republicans are trying to make it one. House Republican leaders want Democrats to kick Swalwell off the Intelligence Committee. This has caught the attention of Trump, who shared attacks on Swalwell on Twitter. In doing so, though, he may have fed Swalwells narrative that Trumps allies wanted to discredit him because he has been such a big critic of the president.

(20,680 posts)Rep. Maxine Waters did not say this exact quote, but available reports indicate she said something similar at a National Newspaper Publishers Association event in September 2018.
Waters made her remark and many other remarks like this in reference to impeachment. She was an early and vocal advocate for lawful removal of President Donald Trump using Congress power to impeach.
There is no evidence Waters was recommending violence.
OK. I think it's important to clarify and remove all doubt when we quote gop lies. Thanks.

She apologized for using that phrase in reference to Israel.

(21,947 posts)Welcome to the RepubliQAn Party.
Here's Taylor Green THIS MORNING:
Members who sleep with our greatest enemy, marry their brother to get him in our country, lead a violent mob in neighborhoods, and more.
They are only set out to destroy Republicans, your jobs, our economy, your childrens education and lives, steal our freedoms, and erase Gods creation.
And the bloodthirsty media are their henchmen who help them by relentlessly attacking anyone in their path.
We know who they all are.
We owe them no apologies
We will never back down.
We only serve the ONE who created us ALL, and we only bow to HIM.
And we know who we are, free and saved by HIS grace.
No matter what.

Looking at the section of his statement about Democrats, it seems the Republican House Minority Leader is in lockstep with this lunatic. Okay then.
