@USNavy this is a failure of the Chiefs Mess. The @NavyMCPON needs to come down on ALL Chiefs over extremism, bigotry & hatred. We are the deckplate leaders and if WE CHIEFS cannot detect & crush extremism, racism, sexism and bigotry then turn in your GD anchors. #ZeroTolerance

I AM FURIOUS!!! The LPOs & Chiefs should have known who did it and had this in a ribbon ready for the CO well before NCIS came aboard. #GoatLockerFAIL.

(82,380 posts)have known who did it before outside military investigators came in.
This means the NCOs are looking the other way in terms of racism in the ranks.
And they do not have control of their troops.
Not a good situation.
I don't blame Nance for being furious.

(27,715 posts)Im not military. I am asking to understand if these people who hang nooses, have these attitudes, can those who are committing these acts tell us why? Why do they think they need to do this? Can they have some sort of introduction to other cultures n have change of heart? Is it better to discharge them n they fall into the hate groups?

WASHINGTON (AP) _ The Marine Corps top general apologized Tuesday for ″any offense that may have been taken″ from his remarks that minority Marine officers do not shoot, swim or use compasses so well as whites.

The Stars and Stripes newspaper reported that Neary used a racist term for Blacks that was heard by other troops during a training event. Neary had taken the command, based in Stuttgart, Germany, in July. Neary is white.
Capt. Joseph Butterfield, a Marine Corps spokesman, said in an email that the preliminary findings of an investigation of Neary led to his dismissal. The matter remains under investigation, Butterfield said.
The Navy might be even worse imho especially on subs
