A tiny pinch (they use a micro-needle) and a couple of seconds and you are done. Don't feel anything going in. This may be the best shot I ever got. Just 21 days and we get our second. Nurse said we'll be at 70-80 in three weeks and at 90+ after the second shot. I am so relieved. Hope everyone gets there's very soon.

(7,754 posts)I'm anticipating some by the end of the day. Nurse assured us that that is a good sign since the pain tells us it's working and it's not bad. Take some ibuprofen if you need to. Very slick process.

(9,952 posts)Good to hear it means all is well. I was ok with it because I knew everyone felt it. I don't get shots, so lack of experience is a big part of it. It was interesting how the pained built... over a couple days then third night, I was able to lay on that side in bed, like was, done.

(9,952 posts)Just quit using one arm, slept on other side and had to remember not to lean up on a wall. I hear the second shot has possibility for more symptoms. I also heard older peopke less likely to feel the flu symptom than if younger. All interesting.

I am more concerned about having allergies, what type of allergies are the problem?

(4,447 posts)It's the same gauge needle used for insulin shots. I give myself those all the time. Pop the needle in fast, and it very rarely hurts in the least.
