Thousands of Progressives Want to Run for Office

CNN: “Run For Something, the PAC that supports young progressives running for state and local office, says 6,554 people signed up for its pipeline in January, many of whom indicated their interest to run in the wake of the insurrection at the US Capitol on January 6.”

“The high interest comes on the heels of Democrats winning the White House and Senate, and maintaining their majority in the House.”

Hillary Clinton officially launches 'resistance' outside group
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2017/05/15/politics/hillary-clinton-resistance-onward-together/index.html

SNIP
Sources told CNN earlier this month that the former secretary of state, months after her 2016 campaign loss, was working with former aides and donors to build an organization that will look to fund and invest in groups that have impressed her since her 2016 election loss.

In an email to supporters and donors, Clinton said Monday that those groups include Swing Left, a grassroots network supporting Democratic House candidates in swing districts; Emerge America, a group urging Democratic women to run for office; Color of Change, a criminal justice reform focused organization; Indivisible, the effort that has spearheaded the protests at congressional town halls across the country; and Run for Something, a group formed by former Clinton campaigns staffers that looks to urge young people to run for local office.

The group, according to an aide, will be a 501(c)(4) with a connected PAC, meaning all money raised through the political nonprofit will not have to disclose donors. A Clinton aide said the group will "follow the guidelines," meaning they will not release their list of donors.

According to a Clinton aides, Swing Left, Run for Something and Emerge America have already received funding.

"In some cases, we'll provide direct funding to these organizations," Clinton wrote in the email. "For others, we'll help amplify their work and do what we can to help them continue to grow their audiences and expand their reach."

Amanda Litman, co-founder of Run for Something, said in a statement that they are "so honored and proud to have Hillary Clinton's support."

The idea for a Clinton political group started months ago, after the former 2016 candidate met with young activists. At first, the meetings were an attempt to motivate and spur activism among young people.

But Clinton soon realized she could do more, said one source...more

THANK YOU HILLARY CLINTON FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR GRASSROOTS CAMPAIGNS.

You continue to move this country forward in a positive way.
May your endless efforts never go unrecognized. Thanks
💙🥂

When I signed up for Ballottrax for 2020 I began receiving California Secretary of State email updates on everything to with elections. I have never seen so many new party filings before. Some have reached required qualification status and can be on the next election ballot. Hard to keep up.

...whose intentions are to either compete with the Democratic party or toss their candidates into the Democratic primary ring.

In fact, when I got an email a couple of weeks ago announcing Nina Turner's candidacy, it pointed out she reluctantly "has to run as a Democrat" because her People's Party isn't registered in Ohio yet (i.e,. they forgot to register it in time)

Thankfully there's at least one viable Democrat running in that primary, Shontel Brown, who likely will win that primary.

but I might be thinking of a filing, and may not actually be registered yet.

There is one called The Women's Party. I tried to research that group, but didn't get anywhere, either because I got distracted or there is no website yet.. probably just got distracted. But there's quite list of filings, and successfully registered new parties.

Freaking weird.

I'm exhausted and overwhelmed chasing rabbits every which way.

I also remember when I clicked on that link, that a whole list of other filings were in play.

It shook me, I wasn't expecting to see something like that, the Women's Party was on that particular list if I recall correctly.

My suspicion radar went up fearing it was some sort of Trumplican Women thing. I think it was a few days ago when something was posted here, where I saw mentioned a fundraising group something like American Women for Trump First or something to that effect.

I mentally connected the two potentially but I didn't research it. Hard to be vigilant on every single thing, it's the game of wack a mole. I'm just feeling too old for this shit.

Thu Feb 4, 2021, 10:35 PM
Feb 2021

Where were they in '93 & '09?
What took them so long to join the Democrats against the dark & growing RW?

Thanks to the efforts of leaders like Hillary Clinton for gathering these small grassroots groups in 2017, who were limited by their individual size, & bringing them all under one strong umbrella PAC & supporting their efforts financially, & lending effective organizing skills to defeat the Republican Party & their fringe hate groups.

HRC has been doing this type of grassroots coalition building since she was in her 20's.

As she declared in her 2016 campaign theme, "We are Stronger Together"

This is how she proudly defines her Democratic Party.
And so does every Democrat in this country.

She is a most progressive & future thinking Democrat. Her entire history in public service is
documented & detailed as that.

Run For Something began with Hillary Clinton & her assistant Amanda Litman.

I hope these thousands of 'progressives' will show their gratitude to Democrat Hillary R Clinton.

Where are they running?

If they are going after Republican held seats, great. It doesn't help however if 1000 people want to compete for a seat already held by a Democrat.

There should never be a Republican running unopposed anywhere.
