(128,905 posts)is that they dismiss the "content" of their own members' vileness in order to project a false "bravado" with the appearance of being "unified against the (fictional) 'enemy'".
At this point, they have gone so far over the cliff in fear of the monster they created, that this woman could literally "shoot someone" in front of them and they would continue to defend her unflinchingly.

(65,010 posts)Barely. The line was drawn to take most of the Rockford area out.
Illinois redrew districts a few times in the last 30 years because of pockets of very high population growth.
Kinzinger actually lives in a suburb of Joliet, which is 80-90 miles from Rockford.
IL 16 is a sprawling district that starts at the Wisconsin state line, runs essentially down the center then goes south and east. The east edge is on the IL/IN state line, and is far south as Bloomington. (But, east of that.)
It's around 180 miles north to south. 12 Counties. Then a slice of far western county where we live.
I live about 12 miles from Kinzinger.

(128,905 posts)With 2(D) and 1(R) listed as not voting.
ETA - 1 last (D) voted (probably Pelosi or Hoyer) so it was 1 D (Marcia Fudge, who was nominated to be HUD Secretary) and 1 R not voting.
