But I do agree with it in principle. How and why can a bright young person finish schooling and emerge with the credentials to land a good and meaningful job that will benefit the common weal....and be saddled with so much debt that their chances of ever owning a home are dim.

I don't know what it's like where *you* are, but last month, the average sale price of a single family home here was $1.2 million. Try scraping together a downpayment - assuming that is even remotely possible - then qualifying for a mortgage.

Maybe if you can find 17 friends able and willing to go in on it, and you all work hard and save for the next decade, then....maybe. Unless prices become ridiculous, of course.

Oh, wait...

Crippling student debt for young people making all the right moves, doing everything they are "supposed" to do, then being f'ed before even leaving the starting line? It's a travesty.
