Man who wore horns in US Capitol riot moved to Virginia jail
WASHINGTON (AP) A man who stormed the U.S. Capitol while sporting face paint, no shirt and a furry hat with horns was moved to a jail in Virginia on Thursday after a federal judge ordered authorities to provide him with organic food while hes in custody.
Jacob Chansley was transferred to the Alexandria Detention Center after his attorney argued that his client had gone nine days without eating because organic food wasnt served at the jail in Washington. A judge ordered corrections officials to provide the special diet.
On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth said the U.S. Marshals Service told the court that the District of Columbia Department of Corrections had asked for Chansley to be moved because they couldnt honor the courts order to feed him organic food.
The judge said jail officials in nearby Alexandria could accommodate the special diet.

So that little ploy may have backfired.
Edit: He wasn't in Arizona when he was moved. He was in D.C.

(3,282 posts)That's where the trial will be.
The epitome of white privilege. There is zero justification in this case for taxpayers to incur additional charges in order to keep this creep in detention.

Somewhere, I'd read there was no evidence found of his history of a special diet.

(14,958 posts)substantiated outside of his assertions since being arrested (I.e. was he espousing similar beliefs previously, was he generally engaged in indulging these beliefs previously)... In other words, is he sincere or bullshitting?
But if there is a prior track record of this being part of his spirituality/religiosity, then he needs to be treated with as much accommodation as Jews/Muslims/Jains who say they only eat kosher/halal/vegetarian foods (and how much is that? I dunno; maybe someone from the DOJ or BOP can tell us).
I'm not into the government picking out and dismissing certain religious beliefs as frivolous while accommodating others.
