Swamped with complaints about USPS, McEachin (D-VA) takes aim at T---- Postmaster General

Swamped by thousands of complaints over lost or delayed mail, Rep. Don McEachin, D-4th, is leading an intensifying push in Congress to replace U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and, if necessary, the entire governing board of the U.S. Postal Service.

McEachin urged the Postal Service Board of Governors on Thursday to replace DeJoy — appointed in May by then-President Donald Trump before a presidential election that relied on record delivery of mail-in absentee ballots that the former president continues to blame for his loss.

“Due to ongoing mismanagement, this American institution has been stretched to its limits, leading to transportation challenges, staff shortages and unacceptable delivery times across the country,” McEachin said in a news briefing on Thursday morning.

McEachin also wrote to President Joe Biden on Thursday to urge him to fill three Democratic seats that Trump had left vacant on the Postal Service governing board and, if the board fails to replace DeJoy, replace all of the board’s existing members. - Richmond Times Dispatch

The sooner the USPS is rid of De Joy, the sooner it can get back to operating without both arms tied behind it's back.

A thank you note I sent in Oct finally reached its destination on Mon. It was ripped and in a plastic bag, in pieces. My BIL’s cable bill arrived last week. The due date was Dec 31. This is unacceptable.

The destruction of millions of dollars worth of government property alone should be worth a few years in prison.

He also destroyed federal property, including sorting machines worth millions of dollars.

We need him gone now! We need our mail service. I do my shopping online, which relies on the post office. And we continue to have vote by mail elections. Our post office operating efficiently is indispensable to our economy and our democracy.

Our postal carriers in rural Oregon have told us they regularly have to work overtime for no pay because of the way their workload is structured. These are incredibly kind, service oriented, hard working people. Not to mention brave. Postal workers deserve better. Americans deserve better.

On January 28 I sent a card and check to each of our daughters. One lives 4 hours away, one 2.5 hours away, one 2.25 hours away. All in Virginia.

The daughter who lives farthest away received her mail within a few days - routed through the Dulles, VA sorting station. The other two? Those cards are sitting in Richmond, Virginia. They arrived there on January 30.

Late last year I sent a card from my home to my friend in Pennsylvania. It took a month to arrive.
