Senate Approves Budget Bill with Harris Breaking Tie
February 5, 2021 at 6:49 am EST By Taegan Goddard

“The Senate approved a budget bill early Friday that paves the way for passage of President Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package, with Vice President Harris casting the tiebreaking vote on the measure that will be key to enacting Biden’s first major legislative initiative,” the Washington Post reports.

“Passage of the budget bill by a 51-to-50 vote came just after 5:30 a.m. Friday, after an all-night Senate session during which senators plowed through dozens of amendments in a chaotic process known as a ‘vote-a-rama.’ Democrats cheered the progress on measures to address the pandemic, while Republicans complained of partisanship and excessive spending.”

Axios: “The resolution will now go back to the House for final approval, at which point committees be allowed to begin writing the bill.”

6. Time to cap spending on new military hardware. Weapons systems that nobody wants... EXCEPT.....

..... Congress members to bring home the "bacon". It is no coincidence that every state has manufacturers that build components for high-tech weapons systems.

Don't get me wrong, as a veteran, I am for "defense" spending BUT on the human side of the defense.

It is long past time to give the men, women, and families in the military the things they need to thrive. NO military family should need to be on food stamps. And deal with a shortage of housing, education, and medical care. Adequate pay for active-duty personnel and their family should be in every budget.

BETTER care for the veterans so that NO veteran has to live on the streets or suffer from PTSD or drug and alcohol addiction because adequate services nationwide are not available.

Medicare for All would help veterans seek local healthcare even in the smallest communities. Raise the minimum wage to $15.00 / hour so former military families can support the family once they have served.

Make no mistake when dealing with these snakes. They are 100% both feet in on destroying America at all costs, holding power and all costs, enriching themselves at all costs and serving their elite billionaire donors at all costs. They know not what our constitution is. They know not what our laws are or care about penalties. They are the law makers who are above the law.

Fuck the QOP!

12. Democrats could use a couple additional Senators to keep Biden's agenda moving.

And I don’t mean Republicans who’ll swing over to the Democratic side occasionally. I mean Democratic Senators. The 50-50 tie means the Dems lead is razor thin and the Vice President is going to get worn out serving up the tie-breaker on these progressive issues.

Which Republicans are either up for re-election or retiring?

How vulnerable are they to a serious Democratic challenge?

There’s got to be at least 2.

(Yes, I’m worried about Georgia. I have no insider dope on Warnock or Ossoff, but I know Warnock is up for re-election in 2022. He should beat up on Collins. But the Republican voters love idiots and vote for them all the time. And Collins is an idiot. Ossoff, at least, is safe through 2026. Still, I’d feel a lot safer if I knew, in 2022, that the Dems had 52 Senators or more.)
