In the midst of so much loss and chaos, I had to express my immense gratitude for my mom all she has done for me. She came to this country with nothing. She learned a new language. She faced adversity and discrimination. She left an abusive relationship. She has done so much to help so many. She got her vaccine yesterday. I am overwhelmed with relief and thankfulness. She was given an incredible gift that words cannot express how deeply blessed I feel. I see loss in my line of work daily. More loss this year than ever before. I needed something positive and healing to carry me forward. I needed a beckon of light in the darkness. Something beautiful in the midst of so much ugliness. Thank you to all that read this and to those who are waiting. Your turn is coming. We have to keep fighting. We need this energy for midterms to keep democracy on course. I send positive and healing vibes to you and yours. Love and light.

(8,073 posts)I'm proud of your mom, and I don't even know her. Some people are just so full of spirit and courage and heart! It's great to hear about that during these hard times.
I got my first COVID vaccination shot yesterday, too. I'm also proud of the people who are out there giving shots and directing traffic for all the people standing in line. There must have been 500 people getting shots yesterday in line.
