He doesn't have to.

Even though real doctors don't know if a vaccinated person can carry COVID and transmit it.

Got my second shot yesterday. Kinda achey and tired today.

That guy had never succeeded at anything in his life and owed over $100,000 in back child support. Having run out of options, he probably looked at all the Tea Party (later Freedom Caucus) politicians on TV and thought, "Shit man, I can do THAT!" Unlike many, he didn't last, but we still have some screwballs who can barely read or write serving for years, even decades.

I look at people like Kevin McCarthy and can't imagine him making a living at much of anything. He's not articulate enough to even be a carnival barker or snake oil salesman.

Yes as you say, all they have to do is tell the voters what they want to hear and put on a flashy show now and then, to make it look like they are really fighting for their constituents. Then spend most of their time fundraising. What con artist could pass up such a cushy job?

As we look back on the Trump years and compare it to what we have now, Trump just looks more outrageous than he seemed at the time, which was already pretty horrible. It is harder to fully comprehend a situation when you are in the middle of it and living it day-to-day. I remember often being so exhausted, I just couldn't absorb anymore, but I was determined to never get used to it, as the new normal.

Some presidents start to look better over time, but Trump will only getting worse. Meanwhile, there is so much we still don't know.

I'm assuming it is a very red area, quite unlike a lot of places in California. I remember driving through Bakersfield years ago and it felt like some rural Midwest town. Meanwhile, it is hard to see how such a bungling idiot could rise to a leadership position in congress. He's been putting his foot in his mouth for years.

I wonder if Dems have ever tried to run a viable candidate in his district.
