Prisons serve vegan, halal, and kosher foods... So, serving organic food to a Pagan seems humane to me.

I would never want a prisoner to starve. Or be tortured. Or be abused. Or to be murdered while in custody.

But I must recognize the inequities of treatment for prisoners, as well as the overall abuses found in America's prisons - which does include rotten, maggot infested food.

I know he is in being held in a jail and not a prison. Some jails are quite large and hold both those awaiting trial and those convicted of minor offenses.

I don't for a second believe a black or brown detainee would have been afforded the same treatment.

While true the answer is not to abuse everyone for the sake of equality of treatment, which is the default counter-argument a lot of people present when anyone mentions the inequities of treatment - instead of recognizing that the treatment some inmates get can only be categorized as special treatment.

Feed him his organic food - but also stop abusing inmates held in jail - and prison.

Take into consideration the health concerns of the black community. High blood pressure and diabetes require a proper diet, for two examples.

Since we're talking healthy food for healthy inmates.
