(36,744 posts)Its mostly waiting for the shot and after it. Took dad and I really only about 45 min.
They do have u wait 15 min after the shot to make sure you dont have a major allergic reaction.
I have the minor side effects. Joint aches and a bit fatigued.

(24,470 posts)It depends on where you are going.
They had a great system. It took about 90 minutes but considering the numbers of cars there it went smoothly.

(46,561 posts)total time, including standing in line. She was told not to show up more than 15 minutes ahead of time. Look on your confirmation notice or other instructions to see if there are instructions about show up time.

(17,606 posts)..included paper work and wait time. Absolutely painless and quick. Good luck....should be cake but sites arent the same and depends on where you are going to get it. Our county was featured on CNN as not wasting one dose. Then theres my 75 yr old cancer survivor friend in RI who cant even get it yet.

(16,835 posts)what state you're in. I had my Moderna shot Monday, and it didn't take long at all. It was a drive-thru setup, and they moved things along very efficiently. I spent almost as much time in the waiting period after the shot as I spent in line to get the shot. I didn't get there early, either. But your situation might be a lot different. Better do what the instructions tell you to do.

(11,726 posts)As a social service worker who works with older adults, I was on the first tier here in California. We received time slots of about 10 minutes and I showed up for mine but had to stand in line for about 30 to 45 minutes. Had to fill out a bunch of paperwork while in line, then got the shot in about 3 seconds but had to stay at the clinic for about 15 minutes to make sure there were no significant reactions to the vaccine. My arm was very sore (probably worse than a tetanus shot) for about a day or two.

(8,065 posts)I got a Moderna squirt on Wednesday, my appt. was between 10 and noon, I arrived about 15-20 mins before. If you have access to any consent/registration forms, fill and sign them before you leave the house.
Another thing is, if your confirmation has phone contact info, I'd give them a call and ask some general questions (how long should I plan on being there, is there parking nearby, etc.) When your confirmation says "plan 90 mins." does that mean "get here 90s mins before" or "plan on being here that lnog"? That's also one of the things you can clear up with the phone call. Either way, you should definitely make sure your smartphone is charged or bring a book, you may luck out ang get called with the first group but it's always better to err on the side of caution.
They warn you that shot number 2 (for Moderna) is the tricky one--you might get a fever or other symptoms, perhaps more soreness. I got some soreness on shot 1 later that night but I just took a painkiller.
Again, your mileage may vary, but congrats on getting the appt. Hope it goes well!
OH, almost forgot, they make you hang out for about 15 minutes after you receive the shot, I guess to make sure you don't have any bad reaction to it.
