I am incredibly impressed with her. She is a true shot in the arm for these daily press conferences. A dramatic 180 from what we got from the ineptitude of the previous administration.
I look forward to watching her every day.

I think she's still nervous and will get better. I think the openness and candor and professionalism is fantastic. Just to me personally her voice and demeanor are annoying.
Irish_Dem
(42,098 posts)More confident and less anxious.
Showing more command of the room.
I think she will continue to grow into her role.
I'd like to see her sound less defensive and stop fiddling with her hair.
Overall she is a vast improvement over Trump's bimbos.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,443 posts)the hair.
Yes... Light years ahead of the lying trump crazies. We can probably assume anyone Biden chose would be open, courteous, respectful... But I have to wonder why he didn't pick someone with more gravitas? Like someone we didn't have to wait to get better or more comfortable? Think we may have lost some of our audience.
Irish_Dem
(42,098 posts)He wanted to hit the ground running, so his choice surprised me.
Yes why didn't he choose someone with more experience and comfortable in her role.
She keeps pushing back her hair on the right side.
I want to send her some hair gel or a barrette.
But it is not really falling into her face, so it is a nervous gesture.
She also looks much better in black or navy, when she wears the bright red dress I don't know what she is thinking.
But as you say she is light years ahead of the Trump lying and crazy press secretaries.
I don't think she has lost any audience, we are so starved for information and normalcy.
And she is so much more honest and responsible, earning the respect of the press and American people.

(42,443 posts)next presser!
This is probably gonna sound radical, but I would have advised Biden to issue a statement that he needed 2 full months to assess damage and create a recovery plan from trump. Only urgent plans he will focus on are getting the vaccination supply chain fixed and getting relief $ approved and delivered.
IOW...create a window when you can't be critiqued/held accountable for anything else.
Irish_Dem
(42,098 posts)Of course, she will probably never touch her hair again.
But it has been a common occurrence every presser.
The downside to the two month plan is that if things took longer, he would look as though he failed. I think there are too many unknowns to be tied to a time table.
I think he has the window now to a large extent, where people are giving him a lot of slack.
But he would still be critiqued by the QOP no matter what.
Irish_Dem
(42,098 posts)And less defensive.
She must get up and read our posts first thing.

(833 posts)and Huckabee Sanders is both staggering and refreshing. It's the difference between Biden, who knows how to lead, and dump, who wanted secrecy and, if possible, dictatorship. I'm very thankful that Biden, Ossof, and Warnock won!

(44,360 posts)There are tons of complaints online with them calling her all sorts of names. So of course it piqued my curiosity.
She's 1000 times better than McEnany and any of the losers Trump had. Everyone forgets about Stephanie Grisham, who was such a maverick that she decided 0 was the correct number of press briefings to have.

the way Kayleigh seemed to want to do.
Blonde. Check!
Full make-up. Check!
Extra eye makeup and mascara. Check!
And dont forget the false eyelashes. Check!
Lots of lipstick and lip gloss. Check!
Tight-fitting outfits that accentuate the derrière. Check!
Not sure how Sarah Huckabee Sanders or Sean Spicer fit in there because no amount of makeup or hair-fix or lifts-in-the-shoes would have helped them survive longer than they did.
trump tried the guy, for starters. Then he got tired of the guy who was less-than-nothing to look at anyway, so lets get a gal then. Uh - really do need to throw Mike Huckabee a bone because he delivers that Bible-thumper vote... and hes got a daughter who kinda knows the score ...
And thus, Ms. Sanders. And after awhile I bet one thing finally started getting to trump about her. Hes the Superficiality Guy, after all. If you LOOK good, you are IN. And at times, with him anyway, thats the only thing that counts. So get me a cutie-pie! As long as she photographs well!
Besides, this is an individual who very likely also feels as though its essential that he be surrounded by pretty things. Including people. They reflect and magnify his own perceived self-perfection. He surrounds himself with gold. Gold EVERYTHING from carpet to ceiling. Pretty girls all over everywhere - with perfect figures and curves, and arm-candy wives. Blondes preferred. He likes Ivanka better than Tiffany (daughter with Marla Wife #2 Maples) because Ivanka photographs better as well as having gone all-in on his White House involvements.
His buildings read lavish, too. Gold everywhere, his name in gold above the entrance in big letters. Everything gold-tinged from floor to ceiling, and shiny and reflective and slick.
Its gotta be visually pleasing. Because he thinks it reflects directly on him. And he does have an image to project, after all.

My only trivial complaint is the too frequent insertion of "um" in her locutions, but given her obvious smarts it's just that, trivial.
