After a postponement, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) held a virtual town hall on Thursday night where she was asked about some of her controversial comments and was eventually asked which prison she would like to go to if she is tried and convicted of treason.
While many questions and comments were supportive, things got off to a relatively bad start with the first question from a woman identified as "Carrie."
"Thank you so much, I'm so excited to speak with you congresswoman," Carrie began. "Just a couple things, first: your incendiary tweets have not addressed the 53,000 cases of COVID in District 3, nor have they addressed the 900 deaths in our district -- it's disgraceful. You have also condoned [Rep.] Marjorie Taylor Greene's incendiary tweets that promoted anti-semitism and racist comments."

And she thinks that people are going to move on after what she did to help with the insurrection............
-snip-
At the fifteen-minute mark, she was asked by a caller identifying herself as "Nicole" where she would like to be incarcerated after being tried for treason, which received a curt "Next question," from Boebert.
Thank you Nicole..................

(81,266 posts)I think the QOP is going to be particularly cunning and vicious towards Dems now.
They are floundering and fracturing. Cannot win on their merits so will have to cheat and slander.

(90,021 posts)Theyre not gonna fade into the background anymore. So we cant let up, either.
Mainly were gonna need to turn out the vote BIGTIME, EVERY time. Its simple. It just so happens there are MORE Of US than there are of them. All we have to do is vote in droves, each time. The numbers are with US. And all we ever have to do is turn em out when its time to vote.

(26,014 posts)but not as well for House and Senate elections, where local regional attitudes are a part. We need to also discredit Republican candidates so much that people turn away from them and Republicans get too discouraged to vote for them. At the same time, we need to offer good alternative candidates to appeal to the people in local and state elections. Holding Congress is key to having the power to make changes.

(90,021 posts)We have to build in the House and Senate, too. To help Biden get more accomplished with less obstruction.

(151,269 posts)That's what she is. The Proud Boys love her. She's "one of the boys," more or less. She likes to hang out with the 3% crowd. They're her customers and voters. I don't think she dates them, though. Seems a bit high-maintenance to me.

(151,269 posts)Just reality. We have many examples of her personality type from her public comments, etc. It has nothing to do with her being a woman. Anyone can be a high-maintenance person. It has to do with ego and interpersonal relationship skills. "Barfly," too, is not a sex-related term. There are barflies of both sexes.

(24,987 posts)The customer in front of you wants items rung up in separate groups. The customer has a fistful of paper coupons. Dickers with the cashier over the price of items ("isn't that on sale?"
. Can't figure out how to use their debit card and requires repeated assistance. Wants groceries re-bagged.
20 Minutes later, you get to check out.
that's high maintenance.

(58,785 posts)As it is, calling Bobert that seems like a grave insult to normal high-maintenance women. I've decided to come back as one in my next life. MY turn.

(15,426 posts)To illustrate - my old director was a person (male) named J. Now J. was a really good director, and had a gift for bringing people together. But I was his economist, and on the team of people he would go to with any little thing. So, when he was in his office, you could count on at least one or two emails asking you to do new stuff every hour, but his expectation for the giant data project he had you working on did not change a bit, in spite of the constant pestering for other data on often unrelated things.
So, what the day would look like is...call up document and research resources. Get ready to begin the planned work. Get email from J. Drop planned work and address the email request. Finish that. Go back to planned work. Ten minutes later, get called into J's office to explain what you had sent him. Often this would lead to a new assignment, but remember he is still expecting the giant data project you have been assigned and you'd better not miss that deadline...
That is what high maintenance looks like in a work situation.
When we consider it in a romantic/relational aspect, the high maintenance partner is...well, high maintenance. S/he takes a whole bunch of time to explain things to, often takes things wrong, and you might have to walk on eggs to avoid saying something that will cause a big rigamarole.

(3,252 posts)She was in contact with the insurrectionists while they were in the Capitol building. That alone is aiding and abetting and she should be arrested IMMEDIATELY. Why hasnt this been done yet???

(14,689 posts)Is this a lesser example of why Trump couldn't be indicted while in office?
Are there higher bars to reach for elected reps before they can be charged?
And why the fuck have we not heard yet that there are any videos of who exactly led the insurrectionists around on their reconnaissance mission?

Do you realize that you are now part of the government that you plan to drown in a bathtub?
After you pledged, "I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God." (3,192 posts)Cute as a bug little beige colored dog. With an anger management problem. It attacked me one day. A cute little cocker spaniel.* And so is our Ms Boebert. She could be the adorable little lady next door about whom people would say Can you imagine that cute little lady has 5 kids?!" -- but with a closet full of guns and a murderous heart intent on using them on people.
*The dog -- completely unprovoked -- snapped at me and frayed the cuff of my shirt but my friend was able to remove the animal from said cuff before it could work on my skin and bones. I think theres a moral to that story that applies to our cute little Lauren.
