Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) have each been fined $5,000 for bypassing metal detectors as they entered the House floor, a senior Democratic aide confirms to NBC News.

Pretty sure that will be Gohmert's response. The next fine goes to $10,000? Only 16 more fines and Louie will be working for free! Which is what his contribution to the House is worth.

The fines would be deducted from his paycheck, not his income. So he would be paying taxes on money he never got.

The fine is great, but they should immediately be removed from the chambers until they can go through the metal detector without setting it off.

You cannot stop a Member on the way to a vote! So - what if every member who skips the magnetometer is escorted to the floor by a Capitol cop, and is searched (wanded ? )after voting?
