New: @POTUS tells @NorahODonnell he doesn’t think a $15 minimum wage will make it into law as part of COVID relief because of reconciliation rules.

“Apparently, that’s not going to occur because of the rules of the United States Senate.”

1. The minimum raise hike is a quick and easy way to help the economy.

I think is also important on a moral, societal level.

Hopefully Joe can find another way to do it.

I must say, our government does not seem to be able to take quick action in the case of an emergency due to
"rules."

If this country, God forbid, got hit with an atomic bomb, we would have no way to respond
rapidly. FEMA won't be able to handle it.

into the Reconciliation bill, and that he would not vote to overturn the inevitable Rethug filibuster if it was a standalone bill, so it is dead.

I will be very surprised if the Rethugs even go for 11 USD per hour. Over half of them want NO minimum wage.

That 7.25 USD per hour kicked in in 2009. In today's dollars versus 2009 dollars (purchasing power-wise) it is down to 5.45 or so per hour when inflation adjusted, and that doesn't count many things that have vastly outstripped the rate of inflation (in cost), like healthcare, cost of housing in so many areas, tertiary education costs, etc etc..
