Daines seeks to block Haaland confirmation to Interior

Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) has indicated that he will try to block the confirmation of Rep. Deb Haaland (D-N.M.) as Interior secretary.

"I'm deeply concerned with the Congresswoman's support on several radical issues that will hurt Montana, our way of life, our jobs and rural America, including her support for the Green New Deal and President Biden's oil and gas moratorium, as well as her opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline," the senator said in a statement following a conversation with Haaland.

"I'm not convinced the Congresswoman can divorce her radical views and represent what's best for Montana and all stakeholders in the West. Unless my concerns are addressed, I will block her confirmation," he added.

Daines could stall the nomination by placing a hold preventing her from advancing through a procedural vote and instead forcing a cloture vote, which could take a significant amount of time.

But it's mostly tapped out. Energy production isn't a big factor in Montana's economy. I think it's 4th or 5th.

His complaint about the moratorium might be based more in the fact that Montana's energy usage is one of the highest in the country per capita than in reference to their oil/gas production. He probably expects it to raise prices.

(or a good part of that) chasing fantasyland races in TX, SC, and KY and instead given those huge amounts to Bullock and also Theresa Greenfield in IA (plus more to try and rescue Cunningham after his disastrous sexting scandal, but that is not as glaring an example).

Those two were either up (Bullock) or damn near tied (Greenfield) for months, but then were buried in the last 2 weeks by over 100 million in RW dark money adverts calling them commies and baby killers and unleashing black hoards (lol at that, MT and IA are only a shade less white than my wife, who can trace her Swedish lineage back nonstop over 1200 years), Both Bullock and Greenfield were cash strapped and couldn't reply in kind, and the national orgs did not shift all the wasted excess funds to them from TX, KY, and SC (and other states as well).

I remember a poster here echoing this same thought like a month out, and he (it was a male) was just shit on by so many here who insisted that Moscow Mitch and Graham and even Cornyn (NEVER was happening) were going to be crushed. Live and learn. If those had won their seats, they would neutralised Sinema and Manchin on many issues (as GA still would have still been in play, as a 50/50 senate (we would have had 50 seat before the GA runoffs) is NOT, as we are finding out, an easy thing, so plenty of motivation).

what Montana will look like stripped bare of vegetation, mountains destroyed like many in Kentucky, the only hills you have left are piles of mining waste and every river and stream polluted by mine and oil/gas operation runoff.

Sen. Daines: "Step back folks, nothing to see here"......

Just make her "acting", and then obstruct, obfuscate and file appeals to any lawsuit questioning her authority.

Then in 4 years, maybe the Supreme Court will say; "you really shouldn't have done that".

Isn't that the "standard" Dipshit Donnie and his Retrumplican Asspickles set?
