....something or other, every so often. It usually sounds stupid, poorly thought out, and totally irrelevant to my life.
She doesn't come across as a complete idiot, but she is if she thinks I care.
I don't and I'm no longer listening.

(52,341 posts)Though even Jane was guilty of wearing white girl blinders. Besides that thing over Vietnam, there was a Doonesbury cartoon that nailed the problem. Jane Fonda would sell her exercise videos, coming across like it was the end-all answer to every woman's problem. And Doonesbury had her pitching her program to the cleaning lady. The cleaning lady was just staring at her with hollow eyes, while holding her mop and pail. It was like she was wondering when Jane would leave so she could get to the floors.

(100,133 posts)I laughed like hell.
I have to say, though, that Jane Fonda managed to transcend her earlier self in many ways. Being intelligent helps; being willing to learn helps; and shes really good at her craft.
Susan Sarandon was a good actress. The rest, not so much.

OK. I saw several threads when I got up today that started with Susan Sarandon says.... and what followed was somewhat underwhelming.

(42,862 posts)Her big-lies stick and harm our party, our Democratic leaders, and our efforts to make progress. She's toxic and divisive. The things she says weaken support for Democrats and the Democratic agenda. She creates distrust and resentment.
We have a sacred obligation to respond to call-out her lies. She's a stupid woman. She need to be silenced.
Put a god damned muzzle on her!

(947 posts)However, I also think the more attention we pay to these lying liars, the more their lies are propagated. It is a vicious circle. Also, calling them names and debasing them isn't going to help either. Doing that seems petty and Trump-like (and I did it too by calling her irrelevant).
Jen Psaki is great example of how to be masterful at handling people like this. Whatever they say, disagree with the basic premise of their statement, then point out what is really happening and how the Dems are better/different from the rethugliqanons. I wish I had used her method in my original post here.
