Any citizen jury will for sure have at least a few cult followers.
Sobering thought.

(18,328 posts)Just imagine the not-guilty pleas from the insurrectionists.
Change of venue requests, Jury screening... voir dire is going to be killer. There might be juries of 6 Trumpists...

(833 posts)just to see SDNY and the NY Attorney General dismantle the Trump Organization. And I'm not so sure a NY jury wouldn't convict him of money-laundering, fraud, or some such financial crime. He'll fund raise from his simpleton supporters; he'll be forced to because he'll be in such financial trouble. Nobody else--no bank, for instance--will lend him a dime.

(18,328 posts)But I don't think he'll run.
Here's what he will probably do:
After Senate trial, he will announce a MAGA2024 PAC to start fundraising. He will get the 757 back in the air and do rallies and such things. He will be "King Maker" for candidates. He will focus on revenge for those who "wronged" him.
His cohorts will take down probably 7 or 8 out of the 10 House members, a few Governors and eventually a few Senators.
2023 rolls around and Trump will decline to run and get 100% behind a protégé citing the "long list of accomplishments" and such nonsense.
It'll be Haley, Noem... someone like that, certainly Female.

(4,533 posts)I love Obama but would vote guilty if the evidence proved guilt, I think. I bet a lot of Trump voters would too. Here is a question for jury selection which identifies a Trump voter with high accuracy. True or false, blacks would do as well as whites if they worked harder.
That is a question on a little racial resentment survey that predicts accurately and better than anything else whether someone votes for Trump. https://www.vox.com/identities/2017/12/15/16781222/trump-racism-economic-anxiety-study

(18,690 posts)tied up in legal cases and various court proceedings--civil and perhaps criminal--providing depositions, sweating it out, hemorrhaging money and paying hand over fist for attorney fees, and that is a small comfort.
I wonder how Scotland will vote on whether to bring his golf courses under scrutiny?

(16,385 posts)Only 5% voted Trump. Manhattan only 12% voted Trump. There could easily be a jury there that convicts him. In my experience, even the Trump voters there arent necessarily cult types. They might be fair on a jury.
