Federal execution spree before Donald Trump's departure likely superspreader event: analysis
The executions at the end of Donald Trumps presidency likely acted as a coronavirus superspreader event, according to documents received by The Associated Press.
In mid-December 2020, of the 47 death row inmates incarcerated at the Federal Correction Complex in Terre Haute, Ind., a staggering 33 of them had tested positive for COVID-19 a 70% infection rate.
The prisoners were tested less than 10 days after the executions of Brandon Bernard and Alfred Bourgeois, according to attorney Madeline Cohen, who compiled the list of infected inmates.
Off death row, about 61% of the roughly 1,200 prisoners at the sprawling complex have tested positive for coronavirus since the pandemic onset, noted the Bureau of Prisons data.
