I just want to point out that BLM's platform promotes non-violence. I wish the article had pointed that out.
Myron B. Pitts
The Fayetteville Observer
The Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol building and U.S. Congress by mobs of Donald Trump supporters has inspired a flood of condemnation, and rightly so.
Five people are dead in its wake, including a Capitol Police officer; more than 70 people have been arrested; and the FBI has indicated hundreds of additional arrests could happen. Trumps critical role in stirring up the violence led to his unprecedented second impeachment on Wednesday.
The attack is indefensible.
But I have seen entirely too many people, especially on social media, compare the Jan. 6 attacks to the Black Lives Matter movement. They specifically claim they see contradictory reactions to BLM and the Capitol rioters by Democratic politicians and supporters of Black Lives Matter.

(12,440 posts)1. I clearly remember President Obama
make an impassioned and heart felt plea after the Black Rights Activist killed the 5 cops in Dallas.
President Obama CONSISTENTLY called out violence whatever the source.

A Facebook post features statements made by four Democratic leaders and claims the comments are all direct quotes that were made "when BLM was BURNING down cities and killing people in the streets!"
This is misleading. Some of the quotes are legitimate, and were made during or around the height of the Black Lives Matter protests over the summer.
Some of the statements received backlash, but none specifically indicated that they meant anything besides peaceful protest. Harris, in particular, condemned violent rioters and said she supported peaceful protesters.
Other comments were made years ago and were not referring to any looting or violent civil unrest that occurred during riots in 2020.
The Facebook post contains an element of truth but ignores critical facts that would give a different impression. We rate it Mostly False.
I think we can also toss this at those RWNJs who want to twist the truth
