One America News is making a play for the pro-Trump audience, but it's missing its star player. Here's what I saw during a day-long binge.

Last Monday in Washington, the news was President Joe Bidens attempt to pass a massive $1.9 trillion Covid-19 relief package through Congress, the agita over Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greenes old Facebook posts calling for the assassination of Democratic leaders, the coup in Myanmar.
In my living room, the news was Hunter Bidens lawyers supposed connection to a DOJ official, CNNs Brian Stelter Biden toadyism, the pedo money flowing out of the Lincoln Project, and a pro-Trump beauty vlogger claiming Sephora had canceled her.
My assignment was to watch One America News (OAN) for a full day: 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., no turning the television off, no leaving my apartment and no channel-switching whatsoever.
Since the election, conservative networks have been locked in a three-way wrestling match for who gets the MAGA television audience. Fox News has been deemed traitorous by Trumps fans for reporting that Joe Biden fairly won the presidential election, and is seeing its worst ratings in decades. Newsmax initially ate into Foxs pro-Trump audience post-election, but more recently the network has alienated many of its fans for the same reason.

(1,202 posts)I live in a very red county in a blue state for the last 7 years. It is astonishing the level of stupidity I encounter. And it's mostly veterans that are completely clueless as I belonged (I refuse to renew my memberships) to 3 veteran clubs in town. Overt racism seems to be a requirement.

(35,336 posts)medical care are among the most vocal about people getting any kind of government help. Not saying
many of them don't deserve it but it is that I get mine screw everyone else. The local guy that
started all the Tea Party crap wears a jacket covered with military patches and lives on a VA disability
pension, free VA health care and has a disabled license on his Caddy and looks in better shape than me.

(1,202 posts)Yes, I notice that as well.
These clubs are basically maintained by Viet Nam era vets. The younger veterans wants nothing to do with this stuff (meaning hanging out in an old fogey bar). That's why they had to open patronage to the general public. The rest of the people in town are no better.

(35,336 posts)American Legion. I sent in my dues and I was a member in the state chapter. Then I get a letter saying I need to join a local chapter. I called the local commander and he asks me who my sponsor was. I asked him why I need a sponsor I am a veteran. He said they just can't let anyone join. "I think we all know what that means". I told him you have associate members that aren't veterans and sons of veterans but I need a sponsor no thanks. One of the people I worked with told me they just want to make sure you are not black.

(1,202 posts)In my experience, I have yet to meet a racist who was just a racist. They tend to hate a lot of people for a lot of reasons.
The clubs I've belonged to seem to have a token black member just for the books. But the whole vibe of the place changes when a person of color is in there. I shake my head at the hypocrisy.
I'm Italian from the city and trust me, they say a lot of things about me behind my back.
