There's been several board members that I've seen and quite a few IRL that I've encountered including my own mother. Yet I haven't seen any official mention of the issue or what someone might do about the matter. Can we look forward ( ) to similar issue with the upcoming checks?

(13,896 posts)I received my $1200 last May in a timely matter. But for some reason I didn't get the $600 so I claimed the Recovery Rebate on my tax return.

(90 posts)The people handling the day-to-day running of the government are career civil servants and, as such, don't change when the administration does.
The most likely reason is the sheer volume of checks to be processed. Tens of millions of people getting tens of millions of checks/e-deposits means tens of millions of opportunities for a problem to crop up.
I'm assuming, from your avatar, that you are a veteran of the USMC. If so, you definitely understand how governmental inertia works. Hopefully, anyone affected will be able to get their money via their income tax return.

(36,413 posts)We got a single deposit in our checking account for the first round, & for the second round I received a debit card. WTF? Why couldn't they just do it the same? Hubby hasn't received the second round yet & I don't think he will. I know they say they don't do this, but I personally think they are withholding his stimulus to apply to our 2020 tax filing.
This site has a Get My Payment button as well as a link to claim your stimulus through the Recovery Rebate Credit.

(23,059 posts)How could they fuck up so big? Our son is one of them. They told him he'd get the money when he filed his 2020 tax return, but why do I think this won't happen because IRS is run by trumper. Biden needs to remove him and cronies and appoint better folks who will protect the workers and not just the man in charge and his rich reicih wing cronies.

(20,131 posts)on their self prepared returns. Sometimes they fail to tell their tax preparer that they have moved or changed banks. Sometimes they forget to mention they had another kid (yes, seriously). It isn't always the IRS's fault.

(25,811 posts)And no, I'm pretty sure they didn't send millions of checks to the wrong accounts on purpose. Lots of ways that mistake can be made, including someone putting in a wrong account number, whether it's the taxpayer or some clerk at the IRS. Simple typo, a lot like "seemingly feel through the cracks" when you probably intended to type "seemingly fallen through the cracks". That kind of thing happens a lot, and no one is immune.

(65,156 posts)I didnt think wed be getting ours after it was sent to our closed accounts. But I had a mail date of 2/2 and my mom had a mail date of 2/5, and both checks came in a timely manner.
Really need to be able to update our direct deposit info. for the next round.
I feel for those still waiting. It wasnt easy to wait a month much less until the recovery rebate credit gets processed.
