House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA) told NBC News that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has no values.
Said Schiff: Kevin McCarthy stands for nothing except the perpetuation of his own position. He has no values, and in my view cares about little except for hoping to be speaker one day.

As a verb:
"She had come to value her privacy and independence."
Still, I think I got your joke!

(10,127 posts)Their "slippery slope" arguments are disingenuous at best. They have steamrolled us for years and never ever care about our position on the matter(s).
Time to let their crocodile tears flow freely while we put them on Full Ignore.

(6,186 posts)...pushed boundaries, ignore prior precedence, bent rules, stole a SCOTUS seat, ignored letting the next president choose a nominee for SCOTUS, and the list goes on.
I think Biden is doing the right thing by pushing forward with his (our) agenda with OR WITHOUT republican support.
The ACA would have been a far better healthcare plan if they hadn't allowed the repugs to insist on changes (which weaken) the ACA and then not a single vote from the (Rs).
The Democrats should use the list to standardize EVERYONE's response to Biden's moves forward.
Today Rubio was on a Sunday news program complaining about the number of Executive Orders Biden is signing. Trump abused that process for a photo (hey, look at me) opportunity. Signing in front of the camera, then holding it up, then adding his ridiculous smarmy grin.
Fight fire with fire. No more capitulation to the repugs to have them just walk away when the vote is called.

(9,670 posts)McCarthy is keenly aware of the real world, but his constituents live in a self-constructed, self-contained bubble. He acts accordingly. He knows he's a coward but his people don't know and don't care and since his choices are go with the flow or cede power he continues the charade. God knows none of these freaks are willing to walk away from it with a clear conscience because they have none.
That's our America.

(33,345 posts)The GOP is adrift & rudderless. Before Trump, they stood for nothing but NO to all progress. Now they stand for chaos and insurrection.
As long as they flounder, they're a less effective opposition.

(5,443 posts)than anything else. McCarthy is the new face of the GOP. Really, it's the Nixon power-hungry problem magnified out of control. How many of them even really care about issues at all? If they do, they want the power to make changes regardless of how the majority of the populace feels--the authoritarian impulse has grown in the GOP. Ironic, given their voters' supposed thirst for freedom. It's scary because American democracy probably hangs in the balance.
