'That was his right': Fox News host defends Lou Dobbs for election lies that 'sometimes went too far'
Fox News/screen grab
Fox News host Howard Kurtz on Sunday defended the "right" of ousted Fox Business host Lou Dobbs to repeat lies about the 2020 election on the air.

On Sunday, Kurtz reported that Dobbs' show had been cancelled following a $2.7 billion lawsuit from voting company Smartmatic, which Dobbs had falsely linked to attempts to steal the 2020 election from then-President Donald Trump.

"Fox Business network announced it is cancelling Lou Dobbs Tonight, the network's highest rated show," Kurtz told his viewers. "Now I've known Lou as a talented broadcaster for decades. He was controversial at CNN. He's been controversial in the decade that he's been here."

I just wonder if Kurtz realizes that Fix Noise is getting off pretty easy, maybe he should ask Brian Sicknick's family what they think.......and the 140 other families of the capital police if Dobbs was right.............as a taxpayer we will be paying for the injuries for a long, long time and the damage done to our building............and our access to those buildings........maybe if the Fairness Doctrine had been in place this crap wouldn't have happened for starters ....

2. Is anyone disputing that Loud Obbs has the right to speak?

What's happened to Loud is that he's being held accountable for what he says, and he doesn't have the right to be unaccountable. See, he's just like anyone else that way.

3. Not if you're a journalist. Then, your job is to tell the truth.

Otherwise what you spew is opinion. And like assholes, almost everybody’s got one — especially at Fox “News.”

they have the right to say racist, sexist, shit, or lies. They absolutely have the right. And everyone else has the right to call them out. Having the right does not mean no consequence.

7. Everyone one of these news pundits and broadcasters that lied during their broadcasts should be made

to pay. Harm was done for no cause other than boosting the newscast's rating/and - or the broadcaster themselves. The companies being unfairly targeted w/ unfair criticism, their employees put in harms' way, etc. should pay.

9. His argument is that the 1st am. protects a right to lie in public.

To deliberately, knowingly disseminate untruths & slander. This is also Trump's entire pathological MO.

I'm not sure he's entirely wrong. There is a line where is becomes slander or fraud or incitement; but that line is subjective in the US.

After all, without a right to lie, where would organized religion be?

11. Here's another journalist who once had a credible career

He worked for The Washington Post for almost 30 years (hired by Bob Woodward) and hosted a CNN show for 15 years. Fox News transforms journalists into unrecognizable media clowns and once you cross that line, you can never go back.
