British Prime Minister Theresa May wanted to alert her husband after Trump held her hand 'by

surprise' during a 2017 visit

Former British Prime Minister Theresa May was alarmed by former President Donald Trump's decision to hold her hand during a 2017 visit to the White House, according to a documentary seen by The Guardian.

"He held her hand going through the colonnades, which took us all by surprise, and as it turns out, took Theresa by surprise," Fiona Hill, the former Downing Street joint chief of staff, said in the documentary.

"She couldn't really take her hand back, so she was stuck," Hill continued.

"The first thing she said [afterward] was 'I need to call Philip just to let him know that I've been holding hands with another man before it hits the media,'" she added.

That’s completely unacceptable.

Surprises me she didn’t pull her hand away or say something to him.

And I'm not a head of state.

You simply pull your hand back and don't let it be taken again. And if it causes a ruckus in the press, all the better to point to what an entitled creep he was.

I'm a guy, but I don't get the "stuck" thing at all.
It's also very unprofessional. Who would get away with doing that on their job?
I think had I done something like this, the HR conversation following would have started at 80% of the way toward fired.
She should have pulled her hand back like a gator was trying to bite.

Stabilization or support walking. She’s not either of his types: 1) tall, thin, boob job, blonde, model material, or 2) a fascist leader with authoritarian and maniacal tendencies, with a steady flow of money (or just a steady flow).

Ha, ha!

Though it is more likely that he is chronically inappropriate and has never known how to behave around other people. No one taught him basic etiquette or he just refused to learn. The way he's treated his wife in public, pushes people out of his way, walks in front of the Queen, yanks on people's arms when he shakes hands, or throws paper towels at victims of a hurricane. It is like he is an alien trying to impersonate a human being - awkward, crass, and rude.

is intimate and not for strangers.

Unless you are a first responder to a casualty, or a Momma keeping your kid safe. At any rate, it is not for heads of state. Inappropriate.

Remember when he shook hands with male heads of state and practically twisted their arms with his demonstration of dominance? I think that's what that was. Always with the dick move. At least she had control of his hand.

where it could be appropriate and even polite to gently take someone's arm or touch their back if you are guiding them into a room or to a seat at the table, but holding their hand is really improper. When in doubt, it is best not to touch another person without express permission, aside from a simple handshake.

I had no idea he just grabbed her hand and started walking. I thought it went something like this: "Prime Minister Theresa May, will you please hold my hand to help stabilize me while walking down the stairs?"
