Don't forget to mask up - even when you're out walking your dog. (P.S. - Champ and Major agree!) (Original Post) riversedge Feb 2021 OP

I never mask up, but then I never pass very close to anyone. I move to the street or to the opposite sidewalk if I encounter anyone. This has been second nature for a very long time because I do it walking dogs anyway.

I’m obsessive about masking, but not when I walk. I’m usually out early enough that no one else is around, and I’m constantly on the lookout and will change course to avoid being near people.

It’s second nature later when I walk the dog. He doesn’t like meeting people or other dogs when he’s on leash, so I’m always avoiding people when I’m with him.

Airborne transmission. Research shows that the virus can live in the air for up to 3 hours. It can get into your lungs if someone who has it breathes out and you breathe that air in. Experts are divided on how often the virus spreads through the airborne route and how much it contributes to the pandemic.

I have the same issue. While I don't walk a dog, I get out of my car to go to the community garden to work. Where I get out of the car is in an area where people walk by on their daily walks or dog walking. Noone but me is allowed into the gardens for now. That will change once the pandemic is over.

I would think that if the wind is blowing, even slightly, that it would disperse the virus if it is there.

I think the chances are pretty slim, but I do wear my wask across that short distance. I take it off once I get into the large area where no one else can go.

When I am walking them in my neighborhood, because I'm always alone. If I see someone, I make sure we don't pass anywhere close. However, if we walk to a nearby park, I do mask up... there are usually quite a few dog walkers there, so I'm much more careful there.
