They can still call all of these witnesses to testify at the 9/11-Benghazi-style inquisition that should have weekly hearings for the next two years.

(71,519 posts)but I am not willing to sacrifice our opportunity to achieve policy goals and /or our majority pursuing Trump. Let the AG handle it or the states. We spend the next couple of years with Trump as our focus...McConnell will be the majority leader again.

(53,339 posts)they can't call the insurrectionists without granting them immunity. Trump has refused. The only witnesses I could see calling would be ones who saw how Trump behaved during the insurrection and I am not sure they could be compelled.
