Nicole Wallace just profiled this 9-year old boy who died of Covid on her show (..she sobbed

uncontrollably..)

https://www.today.com/health/kids-covid-19-texas-boy-9-dies-1-day-after-t208252

'Never got a chance': Boy, 9, dies 1 day after testing positive for COVID-19
The family had no idea that children could get so sick from the coronavirus and hope others will take precautions to protect their families.

When 9-year-old J.J. went to bed on Jan. 24 he said his throat hurt so his dad, Jason Boatman, gave him cough medicine. When J.J. woke the next day, he couldn’t breathe. A day after J.J. tested positive for COVID-19, the boy passed away and his family is reeling.

“There wasn’t a single sign of anything. What happened?” Boatman, 38, of Vernon, Texas, told TODAY. “He was happy, loving, full of life. The next day he’s gone.”

The Boatmans are sharing his story to warn others that COVID-19 can be serious for children, too.

“Not once in my wildest dreams did I ever think this could happen — especially to a 9-year-old,” Boatman said. “COVID can happen to anyone. It really can.”

The last evening J.J. was at home, Boatman remembers the two going through their familiar father-son bedtime routine. J.J. played in the bath, making a bubble beard, and joked with his dad about whether he wanted to be a vampire. After giving J.J. cough medicine for his sore throat, father and son lain in bed watching cartoons until J.J. fell asleep. When J.J. woke the next morning, he was yelping in pain.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, in the United States, there was a 12% increase in the number of children with COVID-19 during the last two weeks of January 2021. Experts say that COVID-19 remains mild for the vast majority of children.

“Children who get infected have very mild cases. They can be completely asymptomatic,” Dr. Rosemary Olivero, division chief for pediatric infectious disease at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, told TODAY. “They can have very mild symptoms — something that looks a lot like the common cold.”

Children with preexisting conditions, such as cancer or uncontrolled diabetes, are at greater risk she said.

“In young, healthy children the risk for extreme COVID-19 is extremely low,” she said.

Just heartbreaking. For a parent to see a child leave this earth before them is against nature.

It's one thing for people to have caught COVID a year ago - that couldn't be helped. But there is absolutely no reason this sweet little boy should have died of COVID a full year later.

Trump and his neglect killed this poor child.

Lately I start crying even before the story. I’ve cried a lot in the last two years. It’s especially tragic when children die, no matter what the reason.

And all I can think of is Trump lying through his pie hole on television, stating that kids just don't "get that sick" from Covid 19. Even one kid is too many. I just wonder how history is going to treat this period. . . . Are they going to wonder just what the f*ck people were thinking? Terrible for parents to lose children, but also terrible for the siblings, friends, grandparents, and everyone else, not to mention the total waste, as this child won't be alive to realize his own potential. Terrible.

this is a "novel" virus we're talking about. We began with no way of knowing the long-term effects. As time goes on, we're learning more and more about "long-haulers", about potential kidney and other organ damage, and about athletes who, although seemingly recovered from the virus, suffer myocarditis.

Not knowing what the long-term consequences might be, it's foolish to just assume that the only downside of the risk of children getting it is a mild cold/flu-like illness. The fact that the virus had horrifying potential effects in older adults must be taken as a reminder how little we know about its potential effects on children.

When the pandemic was young, I remember reading about a couple of kids that didn’t last a week. Situations like this kid and others that have died from COVID19 is why I believe that people are beyond foolish to role the dice with the SARS-COV-2 virus.

like my youngest grandson, who turned 13 yesterday.

My grandkids' dad was raising hell over on Facebook Friday because the school superintendent where they live wanted to order all the kids back to the classrooms. He said as far as he was concerned none of his kids were setting foot in any school for the rest of this school year and he was seeing a lawyer to find out what he had to do to keep they on virtual for the rest of the year. Note to school superintendent...you have not dealt with anything until you have had to deal with that mad Nuyorican!

Damn the murdering, orange traitor and all his lies and coverups about this trumplague.. Every death is blood on his hands.

Is there any evidence he got it at school?

Am I allowed to point out that he is clearly overweight? We know that in adults obesity is a HUGE factor. Maybe it also is with kids.

To hear Trump’s name. It’s hard, but if he had only done the right thing at the beginning of this pandemic. To have told Americans’ the truth instead of “being the cheer leader for America” the nation could have dealt with this. His lies are the ultimate crime.

I was watching a segment on TV where they were showing people at a gun show, and of course they are preparing for the second Civil War. It was so sad, these people all believe that Trump is going to be their leader - and I was thinking, unlike the original Civil War were the leaders were in front of the troops today’s leaders lead from the rear.
