Donald Trump knew that Joe Biden would beat him in the presidential election

so he got himself impeached the first time while trying to destroy Biden.
Then he started screaming that if he lost it was rigged - then he started shouting that Biden should be arrested.
And then he lost and when he couldn't get state officials or federal officials to overthrow the results, he set out to have his terrorists stop the certification by invading both chambers, and killing and maiming people in the process.
So the one term piece of fascist shit was impeached again.

This time his crimes are on tape.

How anyone supports this criminal blows my mind. All ReTHUGs who support him are against democracy.

Expose this MoFoing monster once and for all.

Let's go Dems!

Two reasons: his worshippers might see a firing squad execution as a badge of honor, and it's not nearly humiliating enough.

I want him to be hanged Albert Pierrepoint-style. Pierrepoint was Britain's most famous hangman, and no one knows exactly how many people he hanged - somewhere between 400 and 600 is the estimate. The British gave a condemned prisoner (I am using "him" because most of Pierrepoint's "clients" were men, but he had executed some women) exactly three Sundays to get his affairs in order and mentally prepare himself to die. Pierrepoint arrived at the prison the day before the execution and looked at the prisoner (who had already been weighed) to examine his build and judge the strength of his neck. On the day of execution, Pierrepoint and his assistant would walk into the cell, strap his wrists together behind his back, walk him into the hanging chamber, put a white hood over his head, put the rope around his neck and pull the lever. It took less than a minute, but one guy was hanged in less than eight seconds...that one wanted to get this shit over with, so he broke loose from Pierrepoint's grasp, ran into the chamber and stood on the platform. Pierrepoint took after him, masked him, roped his neck and pulled the lever.

There's a good movie about Pierrepoint called "The Last Hangman" that has excerpts on YouTube. When he went to Germany to hang Nazi war criminals, he would hang two men at the same time and hanged over a dozen people per day.

And, greed and bigotry. Had he handled the pandemic in a competent way, listening to experts, instituting an actual full-on travel ban immediately, sending everyone face masks, not playing mob boss with PPE supplies, etc., he could likely have won on his own. He could have squashed the whole damn thing in that Washington nursing home. No need to resort to insurrection. What a goddamned, self-absorbed idiot.

On the other hand, of course Trump wasn't capable of being competent. You'd think that some of his advisors would have told him what to do. Maybe they did, and Trump refused.

Tue Feb 9, 2021, 08:56 AM
Feb 2021

Last edited Tue Feb 9, 2021, 09:46 AM - Edit history (1)

There are, I think, two fundamental reasons Republicans will acquit Trump. First, they're not really afraid of Trump, especially now that he's been banned from Twitter and Facebook so that he's lost his megaphone. But they are afraid of the Republican base and they fear that if they cross them they will be primaried and lose their position of power.

That's the second and deeper reason that the Republicans are sticking with Trump. Deep down in their fetid souls, they KNOW they cannot win elections honestly. They KNOW that their positions are held by less than 35% of the country. The KNOW that they can only hold onto power through anti-democratic means: Gerrymandering, voter suppression, technical challenges to ballots, denying a sitting president his Supreme Court nomination and so on.

Republicans KNOW that unless they cheat they will lose power. It really is that simple.

In the end, I think that Trump is finished. Far too many Americans are just plain tired of him. As more time elapses, he'll become less relevant. The person we need to fear and prepare for is the Republican who is just as corrupt as Trump but is a lot smarter. With Trump, we were fortunate he is so stupid that he broadcast his plans and his own weaknesses. The next guy won't be so foolish.

I agree with all the complicity stuff you mention, but...
I don't think T+p thought he would lose.
In fact, with voter suppression, Rs as governors or SoS in critical states and a suspected low turnout from COVID, they thought the fix was in. For them!
The tantrums & seditionist attempts at overturning the election were a reaction based in disbelief that he lost, because they believed that the "lose the popular vote, win the EC" was cinched.
In T-$@p's tiny mind, he may actually have believed that since they rigged it, the only he way he lost was the other side cheated better than him.
Now, that doesn't begin to excuse the crimes then committed to overthrow democracy. But, I don't think they ever thought they'd get beat. Especially by nearly 90 EC votes.

They really believed they had this in the bag, IMO.

The people who lived near John Gotti in Queens loved him and cheered each time he was acquitted for his crimes. Plenty of people there feared him for good reasons but most who supported him did so because he was a tough guy who stood up to the government, or because he was a local guy who made it, in their eyes, or because they wanted to be like him. And those reasons were due to bad parents and a corrupt local culture, or bad judgment, or a "you ain't gonna tell me what to do" approach to life. Just like those who support Trump. Who is another son of Queens.

They last won a popular election 2004. An aberration as they lost the popular election in 2000, and all through the '90s, the '00s, the '10s and the trend is continuing in here in the '20s. The Republican party has been a minority party for decades.

Ethically they are wholly corrupt. They will vote to acquit Trump this time for pure political reasons. But this is also often seen with the party under McConnell's rule. He changes the rules to suit his interests, he lies constantly and negotiates in bad faith and brags about it on Fox News.

Because of that, they lie about being the party of law. We have seen these lies for decades. Remember spying on Americans and shoving in a provision to the PATROIT act to make it retro-actively legal? Remember torture of prisoners? I can go on and on here.

This is one of the reasons I think it would be a grave mistake to gavel through a Senate trial quickly and then let the whole matter drop to 'move on.' One of the reasons we've reached the place we stand today is because we keep moving on. This latest criminal crisis in our government came way too close to taking the country over the edge. We cannot move on, we have to take the time to deal with it or it will happen again and we will not be as lucky the next time.

Remember the bus loads of Boston voters who stole the New Hampshire primary in 2016. There were the millions of illegal alien Hillary voters who stole the popular vote in 2016. There was the special commission to investigate voter fraud in 2017. Reminders to his base all through his presidency. And of course, crippling the postal service, claiming mail in voting isn't secure, downplaying covid to his base and encouraging them to vote in person. All so he could claim he was robbed and garner support for his coup. If it wasn't for the inertia of the federal government and the integrity of our flag officers and civil service IT PROBABLY WOULD HAVE SUCCEEDED. We were very lucky.
