Republicans have exhibited the ultimate privilege in their calls for "unity"

It takes a tremendous amount of entitlement to call for moving forward (actually demanding a pass) on a violent insurrection designed to not only murder the Vice President and the Speaker of the House, and others, crush the peaceful transition of power, and overthrow the government.

To them "unity" means that they're allowed to do whatever they want without any consequences for their actions. I didn't hear ONE of them demand unity while Trump was in office.

because this is a democracy and the white men who once ruled are strongly outnumbered by all the rest of us, all the increasingly empowered rest of us. Women alone are half of the electorate, and replacement of the subjugation and dependence of women with their independent sovereignty enrages.

So, white men from the most powerful to the least have watched and are watching their special identity, their power and privileges increasingly disappear, and those who lead the conservative party have turned to ruthlessly unprincipled, fascistic, and outright criminal means to get them back.

If they won, the spoils would be theirs to pass out to those they allow to join their ruling cabal. They could persecute and eliminate those they choose, and would have to in many cases. And of course, they would always win the faux elections that replace the real elections they could no longer can win but once had to steal.

They are certainly all criminals, but some with special status.
