Three reasons I can't stand the "Repubs will never vote to convict" meme

1. It's defeatist. It's akin to throwing in the towel before the game even starts.
2. It gives the dead-end repubs power they don't deserve and lets them frame the debate.
3. It affects ALL the corporate media coverage, even the "liberal" channels such MSNBC and CNN. Viewers are given the impression that it's over and calling their reps or pressuring them is useless.

You know this attitude of repubs will never turn in trump has permeated everything we've seen and heard for the past four years. It really, really blows.

I agree. I became angry when it was constantly repeated in the GA special elections too, but now hlthe2b Feb 2021 #1

it is infuriating. By constantly repeating this and lowering public expectations that their opinions can move Congress or the facts might just have some bearing, it gives R's cover.

It's more like "even a blind hog will snuffle up a truffle occasionally".

The incessant chatter about the verdict being a foregone conclusion has kept me riled up so when I saw the OP, I posted and then read your comment. Gotta cool down and slow down some.

I have given up on Quawley ...

I told blunt he made me ashamed to have him represent me, as well as other things.

They vote to convict, it's the right thing to do. They don't, in the face of the clear evidence, they only hurt themselves. They please only the hard core Trumpers and that isn't enough to win elections. Everyone else will hate them.

Now that they will have to make that tough vote, we'll see what happens.
