...always been racists in the United States, and always will be, putting a virulent and open racist in the White House with a "bully pulpit" has made it more acceptable via the "Overton Window."

He has validated via reactionary revolutionary rhetoric a detestable cancer which has now metastasized on our body politic.

The racism of Buchanan's time was mainstream and acceptable to the majority of Americans as historically regrettable as that was. He did little to make it worse; he merely accepted it as it was.

19. The fact is, we may as well just forget about the arguments by fascists that

Black people, or Jews, or women, or Latinx, or Muslims, or whatever the flavor of the week is are less competent that "white" people. They don't care. If you are less competent, they look down on you, but if you are more competent, they are terrified of you. Terrified you will "replace" them. Somehow the terror feels more dangerous to me than the condescension. But the hatred is just on the basis of the object being "other." Questions of "better" and "worse" are truly irrelevant.
