Look, I come here to be uplifted and inspired, is there anyone who can give me that ?
If I wanted to be depressed, I could go a lot of other places.
Now I realize this site can't make me feel the way I felt in 2008 when Obama was elected everday, but I damn sure don't want to feel like I felt in 2004 when Bushit was reelected.
If you don't have anything good to say about the liberal cause and the liberal prospects, then live with your misery without spreading it.

Fearless
(18,458 posts)An issue you're having with DU and not an issue others are having with you. I doubt it's personal and DU's a big sandbox. Everyone can build their own castles. Fear drives people to worry, especially about things that matter to them. The disappearance of SS money or healthcare coverage for instance. Everyone is entitled to their worry. It is as legitimate a feeling as any other.
It's more an issue of pessimism as opposed to optimism.

(11,804 posts)Even those who are down on Obama's chances or who doubt much will change if he does get back in. I might disagree with them (and express disagreement) but it's still good to see different points of view.

I just have a very hard time enjoying posts that suggest Obama may lose the election.
Call me crazy.
I'm pretty optimistic in general, and just notice a lack of it in others.

(8,240 posts)but I certainly don't think it's a good thing to come here and spread it to others. There's nothing constructive or helpful in doing that. I agree with you bro.

(25 posts)Wow, such sophistication in message boards.
It would be easier if people were just more upbeat.
Of course, it would be easier if all women were attracted to me too.....but that's not happening.

Some of the best original writing, the best original humor,
the best original ideas, come from people here.
Give them your attention, your positive vibes,
add your hopeful perspectives.
Don't decry the absence of hopeful perspectives,
create and contribute them.
There are also people working so hard for Obama and other
downticket races. Work along side of them!
And here are many, many kindhearted, compassionate,
righteous people.
Some days the trolls, the downers, and the nasty people
dominate the board -- don't focus on that, look for the gold,
there's lots of it.

(29,503 posts)sometimes the simplest suggestions are the best suggestions.
And welcome to DU.

(2,391 posts)It's far more sophisticated to get along with others and respectfully acknowledge, if not necessarily agree with, differences, than to insist everyone act or do things a certain way simply to make you feel better.
Of course, you could start your own forum and set your own rules. Good luck finding participants.
I guess you put me in my place.
Let me cowher in the corner now because of your brilliance.

I don't even know how to put up the little sarcasm logo I've seen others use.

(8,240 posts)it's defeatist and pointless. He/she could've got their point across in a more respectful way. Mean people suck.

They surely have a Repukin neighbor close by to be mean to.

(13,141 posts)about using ignore, and trash -- tools of this forum
so if somebody or something is bothering you, you
can make it disappear from your awareness.
It was a friendly and helpful suggestion from the
poster you are now implying is mean.
and you responded
13. Ignore and Trash ???
Wow, such sophistication in message boards.

(2,391 posts)So you don't need to worry about me being "mean" to it, anymore.
Of course, it got in a lot of other posts between this thread and the now-hidden one. That's what sucks. True to form, it went out obnoxiously, all while trashing VP Biden, calling him.... Well, you can read it, yourself.

(8,240 posts)It also aides and abets the other side to see the DU with a majority of threads of depression and doom. I will not, repeat, WILL NOT give that to the bullies.

(13,141 posts)It's easy to get overwhelmed taking in too much information.
Up and down polls, trolls, and so on.
The source of hope and inspiration is inside of you.
If you can find it there, drink deeply, and share it..
that's how it works.
You can only drink from others' fountains in drips and drops.
There's a whole freshwater ocean inside of you.

Thank you. There are SO many more of us who think like you do. We are here to get fired up. I'm at the campaign office now.
Made my calls for the day. Cleaned up the place, brought goodies for the late afternoon and evening crew. And a big pot of coffee from Starbucks. It wasn't my turn but I thought they could use a treat.
This is how we should treat each other here, too.

(29,503 posts)regardless of political outlook. While some of these people are otherwise very smart and contribute heavily here, it can be a downer to read some of their stuff when you yourself are already feeling down. Judicious use of ignore can help this, IMO - just be sure to take them back off ignore when you are strong enough to deal with it.

(31,454 posts)here never had the president's back, who can't wait to pounce on any perceived weakness. They start these downer threads, and they're quickly picked up on other sites where they pretend that we're all in "meltdown mode". Ignore them; trash their threads, and keep your head up in spite of them.

(25 posts)I've learned that not everyone here is on the same page.
No 2 people are the same, maybe I was misguided in my belief that those here would be more or less aligned in their
belief systems and desires.
It should definitely be a prerequisite that all here "have the Presidents back".
