He is an evil genius. Cool and calculating. This whole thing was plotted out by him and his staff and the Repug Party all around the country - in D.C. and in the States - aided and abetted his plan to maintain the presidency at all costs.
I hope they mention his attack on the USPS and his appointment of DeJoy to cripple the U.S. Post Office and their ability to handle the mail-in ballots that Tr**p knew would be a disadvantage to him.
This was well thought out. Tr**p had help and support to carry this out. And he used his bully pulpit and the MSM to his advantage to lead up to the 'storming of the Capitol' and this insurrection and his treasonous ways.
believe it's the assholes around him who probably come up with most of the ideas. As long as it's evil, vindictive and causes pain, he's all in.

(53,764 posts)He's evil all right, but he's an evil dumb MFer as his schemes don't work. See his bankruptcies, see his impeachments, see his handling of covid, see his handling of the vaccine rollout (actually non-handling), see his brilliance of having lost the House, see him having lost the Senate because of his Georgia meddling, see him having lost the election and WH...all of that in one disastrous term.
No. Absolutely not an evil genius. An evil fuck-up who thinks he's a genius...yes.
Look up the Dunning Kruger effect.

(2,018 posts)Im going with dementia.
Just because he is evil and directed, doesnt mean he is mentally all there. It is astounding that they got as far as they did, given the crazy incompetence, egos, and alcohol/drug problems around him as well.
He acts exactly like my mother did, with Alzheimers, in the few years before she hit the final, severe stage. She could talk herself into any story that soothed her worry, anger, or ego, no matter how absurd. She fully believed it, just like he does. Her ego, large to begin with, took on a life of its own. Her hard-headedness did too. When she lost track of facts, she would make new ones to suit her.
The evil he did in destroying the PO, the rigging of courts, the horrific abuse via ICE, etc. - they arent his genius plans. Theyre his anger and ego run wild, with the strategy and means arranged by much more competent criminals around him.

(25,241 posts)we keep on giving him the benefit of the doubt.
He's conned, lied and plotted his way through his whole life. He's the head of this crime family and he keeps on getting the benefit of the doubt that he has dementia - and can't think his way out of a paper bag.
Ian Fleming couldn't think up a more evil and corrupt villain if he tried. Fleming couldn't have wrote a Bond novel that would come off a believable as to what we've been through over the last 5 years.
I'm sorry. Trump knows exactly what he's been doing all this time and he is still doing it to us. He's used us all - the Repug Party, the MSM and a great portion of the American People.
He's pulled off his biggest con yet and if the House Managers can't be effective in convincing the Senate - he'll be acquitted and come back at us with more vengeance.

(2,018 posts)What a twisted interpretation.
Fact: his father went down with dementia, with many of these same behaviors. His family has been dealing with him similarly to demented daddy.
Fact: dementia is not an excuse, and it does not get him off the hook. He still is mentally competent at this point. He just is long and impaired as hell, in a way that brings out the very worst in his character. Worse yet, it can render a person even more fully psychopathic than he would have been earlier in life.
The reason he ultimately failed is that he was NOT in control of himself, or fully mentally with it. We came horribly close to becoming a fascist dictatorship, and the ONLY thing that prevented it was that his staff was 100% on board with the goals, but he was too volatile and loony to stay focused and not undermine his own efforts with bizarre behavior.

(12,503 posts)either in a Tweet or an Oval Office announcement, he could have secured the win.
It's a scary thought, but if he only showed he was trying, even a little bit, he could have probably got those 11,780 votes in Georgia, and winning amounts of electoral votes elsewhere.
So that was a stupid move in my book to ignore masking up.

(25,464 posts)I don't necessarily agree that he's an evil genius, but the common assertion that he's nuts or that he has no idea what he's doing or saying is nonsense. Everything he does is intentional and has a specific purpose. Everything he says has a target and a reason for saying it.
He's an actor, pure and simple. And yet, we on the left frequently wave it away as dementia, mental illness, and the like. It's rather frustrating.

(53,764 posts)Not modeling wearing masks is just one of the glaring examples. He'd be president now if had just done that simple thing.
Evil all right. Genius? Fuck no.

The prevailing opinion among his idiot supporters was masks = bad, so he pandered to them. And killed 400k+ people.
I agree - had his response to Covid been reasonable, he more than likely gets reelected.

(11,296 posts)And the blood curdling fear facing the U.S. right now -- is that somebody with a modicum of intelligence, self control -- and the political sense of a 6th grader -- accedes to the office with the same character and agenda that Trump had. Genius? Not by a long, long shot. And let's all be glad for that! If Trump wasn't as tremendously inept at his goals, and the job -- we'd be in far worse shape than we are right now.
