Using all their willpower to ignore the facts in front of their faces and devising their lies to justify letting Trump off.

Lindsey Graham's defense is apparently that Trump didn't come straight out and say "attack members of Congress" -- like it's not a crime unless the criminal announces "Oh, I'm committing a felony over here" to all the witnesses
