could you post your observations about what happened today? I have of course read several threads here but I am just curious about what you thought was most noteworthy.

(80,418 posts)And overwhelmed.
Basically the managers made totally brilliant presentations.
Gave us time lines, minute by minute.
Trump had a central role in the mob insurrection.
The mob was blood thirsty and would have killed members of congress, there is no doubt now.
Congress escaped by minutes from death and injury, some literally running for their lives.
The capitol police saved the day with heroism against all odds.
Trump refusing to help control the mob, in fact was excited by it.
That is all I have right now, my head is spinning and my stomach is in knots.

(1,430 posts)My friend called and said the same thing that she felt like we had been put through a washer. It was really overwhelming. Ugh, absolute horrible truth, what he intended, what he did, his total lack of remorse. Is Trump still getting a kick out of watching the pain? It was so compelling.

(80,418 posts)that there were no deaths. It was obvious that this was his plan.
It is only by luck and skill of the police that the members of congress escaped a blood thirsty crowd.
Federal FBI documents indicate some of the mob, the Proud Boys went to the capitol for the express purpose of killing Pence and Nancy P.
Of course, Trump still gets a big kick out of all of it.

(1,430 posts)Ive been sitting here with my stomach just hurting, but what you said is so true I started to cry, but couldnt because Im just so pissed. Yeah, that was an effective presentation.

I suspect that's going to get some press.
It's hard to say what's most noteworthy. Probably the discussion about how close the mob was to Pence, Pelosi, and others. 60 feet from Pence and his family as he was being evacuated. It was very close to being so much worse than it was.

(80,418 posts)The fact they and Nancy were close to being killed by the mob.
And Trump's month long egging on and planning all of this.
TwilightZone
(28,836 posts)That was rather striking, as were the maps.

(80,418 posts)Yes the maps were really good.

(11,992 posts)Most of it was stuff most of us here would have seen, but the way the House managers packaged and presented it was masterful.
Basically, they laid out a timeline from the election in November, all the way up to the invasion of the Capitol itself. Seeing it all laid out chronologically left no doubt Trump created this.
I think the highlight was where they described in detail how close the rioters were to Pence and a number of senators (Romney, Schumer). It was only a matter of a few yards or a few seconds between them and a lynch mob.

(18,402 posts)before the election, when he planted the seed that he couldnt lose, and if he did, it would be because there was fraud. He kept escalating those claims, and over the course of the summer he refused to say that he would accept the results of the election.
They were showing how he was grooming these people long before the election took place, so that by the time he lost, they really believed it had to be fraud.
