Mystery Russian bought most expensive Florida home for $140M in cash

https://www.foxbusiness.com/real-estate/mystery-russian-bought-most-expensive-florida-home-for-140m-in-cash?

The newly built manse is located in Palm Beach on land once owned by former President Donald Trump.

A mystery Russian buyer has swooped up the most expensive home ever sold in Florida, with a source telling Page Six they paid nearly $140 million in cash.

The newly built manse is located in Palm Beach on land once owned by former President Donald Trump. In 2008 Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev — who made headlines when he sold Leonardo da Vinci’s “Salvator Mundi” for $450 million — bought it for $95 million. He razed the house and sold three adjacent lots for the combined price of $108.2 million, according to reports.

The newly constructed, 21,000 square feet “spec” house sits on one of the lots and was designed by architect William M. Boyle of Boyle Architecture and features a pool and guesthouse. It went under contract less than 24 hours after the mystery buyer toured the home, a source tells us.

Even that wouldn't make it worth so much. It's meant to pay off Dmitry, probably.

I look at those pics, and I think it's so cold and hard and reflective. It's like a huge mirror.

I dream of buying a pretty Craftsman bungalow. They go for about $350K in my area. I just love the wood and the warm rooms. That's my dream house, not something that looks like some Fortune 500 business headquarters.

I will never understand why anyone wants to live in something that looks like a hotel or office building. The only part of those houses I ever like is the outdoors. They usually have a good view.

But your Craftsman? I'd live in one of those in a heartbeat! They are beautiful homes.

Any time I drove around town I was pretty much drooling. It took a lot to keep myself from going up to people's front porches and knocking on their doors, and asking if I could take a tour of their house!

You better believe that counts! I used to live across the street from this house. Actually saw it on TV, and took a picture of it from the TV. They were doing restorations on old houses in the town I used to live in.

I LOVE old houses.
Hope you and your family are well!

to ban Israeli citizens from owning property in the US? Should my parents be forced to sell their Hong Kong property because the UK does it to China? Following your logic, US citizens would be banned from owning property in most of Central and South America due to the US's horrid history of governmental overthrows and exploitation down there.

I was only addressing the not at war part.

I'm well aware of the activities of many countries including the US. My only comment is that it seemed difficult to operate behind the Iron Curtain but this global economy makes it easier to spy on each other.

I paid for it, applied for and received permission to live here.

On the other hand, I knew a guy who built this monstrosity in Florida for $25 million (20 years ago).
Even after he declared bankruptcy and admitted to bank fraud, he was allowed to live in it for a while longer for the simple reason that no one wanted to buy it, and the bank couldn't get rid of it.

The guy who built that obscenity I showed above, on the other hand, is a Republican born in Massachusetts. Now, HE is someone I would consider an enemy.
